(PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Artistic Director Sarah Rasmussen and creatives from Legacy of Light take the audience behind the scenes as they discuss the upcoming McCarter Theatre production at the Princeton Public Library on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. The event runs from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room.
The play takes place in present-day Princeton, an astrophysicist is discovering new planets while dreaming of starting a family. In 18th-century Paris, Émilie du Châtelet — a brilliant physicist inspired Voltaire and influenced Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Across the ages but under the same star-filled sky, their stories intertwine in this bright and funny play about life, the universe, and the legacy we leave behind.
The Princeton Public Library is located at 65 Witherspoon Street in Princeton, New Jersey. The event is presented in partnership with McCarter Theatre and Pi Day Princeton.
Legacy of Light by Karen Zacarías runs from March 19 through April 6, 2025 at McCarter Theatre (91 University Place) in Princeton, New Jersey. The production is directed by Sarah Rasmussen. The cast includes Kimberly Chatterjee (Olivia), Trey DeLuna (Lewis/St. Lambert), Zack Fine (Peter / Monsieur Du Châtelet), Gina Fonseca (Millie / Pauline), Allen Gilmore (Voltaire), Lenne Klingaman (Émilie Du Châtelet), Chris Chauvancy (understudy for Lewis / St. Lambert), Raquel Nobile Fernandez (understudy for Millie / Pauline), Cameron Knight (understudy for Voltaire / Peter / Monsieur Du Châtelet), and Hannah Tamminen (understudy for Émilie Du Châtelet / Olivia).
Sarah Rasmussen is artistic director at McCarter, where she is thrilled to carry on its long tradition of championing innovative art. Previously, Rasmussen was artistic director of the Jungle Theater in Minneapolis where, in recognition of her directing work, she was named Star Tribune’s Artist of the Year. Rasmussen also served as resident director for Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Black Swan Lab new work development program and dead of MFA directing at the University of Texas at Austin.
