(MARGATE, NJ) -- Fool Moon Theatre Company is holding open auditions for the five-time, Tony Award-winning meta-musical "The Drowsy Chaperone," a loving parody of the 1920s American musical comedy genre. Auditions will take place at the Margate Community Church (8900 Ventnor Avenue, Margate) on Saturday, April 18 from 11:00am to 2:00pm and Sunday, April 19 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
The Jazz-Age score is by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, and the clever book is by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. This fictional musical is about the intrigue surrounding a soon-to-be-wed oil tycoon and a Broadway starlet.
Men and women, 18 years and older, should be prepared to sing an audition song with their own backing track. Performers will be asked to read from sides, show physical comedic ability and movement, as well as dance skills. Tap dancing males are needed. This is a fun, high-energy show.
Performance dates are July 17-19 and July 24-26. Actors must be available for all performances.

Fool Moon Theatre was founded in 2005 as a nonprofit theatre company. Their inaugural season was staged at the now-demolished United Trinity Methodist Church in Ventnor and consisted of the hilarious canine comedy “Sylvia” and the sharped-edged one-acts “Death-Defying Acts.”
In 2006, they began a five-year residence at the Margate Community Church beginning with “The Fantasticks” and ending with the Rodgers and Hammerstein revue “A Grand Night for Singing.” Along the way, there were lots of laughs with such comedies as Neil Simon’s “Sunshine Boys,’ A.R. Gurneys “The Dining Room,” William Inge’s “Bus Stop,” the Wrigley Field-based comedy “Bleacher Bums,” and the madcap “Beau Jest.”
In October 2017, Fool Moon Theatre kicked off the revamped Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point with “Our Town.” Later productions included “Steel Magnolias,” “On Golden Pond,” Neil Simon’s “London Suite,” “Blue Yonder,” “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” and a reprise of “Sylvia.”
Fool Moon Theatre is excited to contribute to the arts and culture in South Jersey and are always on the lookout for passionate, talented people. Email [email protected].
