John Tornquist Releases Debut EP: "Mr. Lonely"

With his debut EP "Mr. Lonely," Americana artist John Tornquist releases three tracks teeming with nostalgia but backboned in that new country feel. Released on October 13, 2023, the project harkens back to the height of Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison in sound, filled with electrifying pedal and lap steel, and the vocal interwoven throughout brings to mind the Mick Jagger/Keith Richards classic combo. While reminiscent of these rock icons, Tornquist manages to stay true to an Americana and country sound with violin fills and the vocal's tone.

“Everyone involved is so happy to be releasing new music at this time, and I think we are all really proud of the way these songs have evolved,” says Tornquist when asked about his feelings regarding the debut project’s release. "Mr. Lonely" is a new direction for the songwriter and artist and is the perfect representation for the future ahead. With a team of heavy-hitters involved in the three tracks - Marc Muller (Shania Twain) and Rich Travali (Paul Simon, Robin Thicke, Nelly) - the sound of "Mr. Lonely" is a knockout for fans everywhere.

John Tornquist has played in numerous bands in and around the Jersey Shore and has had the pleasure of darkening the doors of many the areas iconic original music venues and clubs. Life changes and a quest for new beginnings brought about this new project and helped to form the current line-up of musicians creating music with Tornquist. The moment that childhood friend and guitar virtuoso Ken Hulse joined forces with the songwriter, along with long time friends Tom Spina (bass) and Thomas Sciro (drums), the project took on a natural and exciting trajectory.

The 3-song EP, "Mr. Lonely," is the debut release of the group - the songs delve deep into the Americana genre pulling in classic retro vibes but remain true to the feel of contemporary country and classic rock. Highlights of the tracks include pedal and lap steel by the talented Marc Muller, and the impressive audio quality and stellar engineering of legendary audio engineer Rich Travali. Although currently promoting the new release, the band has already begun recording their sophomore effort.
