(OCEAN CITY, NJ) -- Greater Ocean City Theatre Company presents Hadestown: Teen Edition from October 18-19, 2025 at Ocean City Music Pier. This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. It features Book, Music, and Lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell.
Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone – Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.
Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
Performances take place Saturday, October 18 at 7:30pm and Sunday, October 19 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $15 and available for purchase online. * All seats are General Admission - no assigned seating as this production is being performed with a thrust stage. Ocean City Music Pier is located at 825 Boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey.
Among Hadestown's many awards include: eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Orchestrations; four 2019 Drama Desk Awards; six 2019 Outer Critics Circle Awards; 2019 Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical; and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
