Thursday State Theatre New Jersey presents MOMIX: Alice (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents MOMIX: Alice on Thursday, November 2 at 7:30pm. Created by MOMIX's Artistic Director, Moses Pendleton, Alice is inspired by Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland.

Hudson Theatre Works Opens Season With Early Pinter Masterpieces (WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- Hudson Theatre Works kicks open its 11th Season with a double bill of one-acts by Harold Pinter, one of Britain's most influential modern dramatists. PINTER x 2 features two of Pinter's early works: The Dumb Waiter and The Lover. Like in all of Pinter's plays, seemingly ordinary events become charged with profound (though ever-elusive) meaning, haunting pathos, and wild comedy. Performances take place weekends from November 2-19.

Friday - Outpost in the Burbs presents Slambovian Circus of Dreams Unplugged and The Kennedys (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Outpost in the Burbs presents a co-bill of Slambovian Circus of Dreams Unplugged and The Kennedys on Friday, November 3 at the First Congregational Church of Montclair. Showtime is 8:00pm.

The Strollers presents "Children of Eden" (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Strollers presents Children of Eden across three weekends from November 3-19 at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts. From musical theatre greats, Stephen Schwartz and John Caird, comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! It's about humanity - our first steps and fumbles, trials and triumphs, and ultimately how we live with one another on this earth.

Pioneer Productions presents "Lost In Yonkers" by Neil Simon (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Pioneer Productions is bringing Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning comedy, Lost in Yonkers to the stage at Fellowship Hall in the Morristown Methodist Church in downtown Morristown, NJ. The show will have six performances between October 27 and November 5. Pioneer co-founder Daniel Peter Vissers of Sparta directs this beautifully crafted coming-of-age story set in 1942 in Yonkers, New York.

Friday - State Theatre presents The Head and The Heart (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents The Head And The Heart on Saturday, November 3 at 8:00pm. The acclaimed Seattle band's hit songs include "Rivers and Roads," "Virginia," "Honeybee," "Lost in My My Mind," and "Down in the Valley." Opening the show is Tennessee band, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors.

Friday - In Celebration of the Many Forms Artists Create with Books Nearly three decades ago, Michael Joseph founded the New Jersey Book Arts Symposium. 

Friday - Shea Center for the Performing Arts presents Neil Berg's 101 Years of Broadway (WAYNE, NJ) -- The Shea Center for the Performing Arts presents Neil Berg's 101 Years of Broadway on Friday, November 3 at 8:00pm. Following the enthusiastic response to last season's hit Broadway review Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway, Berg now brings his all-new production, 101 Years of Broadway, a musical revue with more of the greatest songs from hit Broadway musicals of the century.

SCTC Presents "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" Next up at the South Camden Theatre Company's Waterfront South Theatre is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," based on the award-winning 2003 novel by British author Mark Haddon and adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens. The production opens on Nov 3 and continues Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons through Nov 19,.

Adelphi Orchestra Celebrates 70th Season with "The Viennese Masters" (FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- The Adelphi Orchestra proudly announces the commencement of its 70th consecutive season, "Music for All," with an enchanting concert titled "The Viennese Masters." Under the baton of Maestro Kyunghun Kim, audiences will experience a captivating program featuring the timeless works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn. Performances take place November 4-5.

New Jersey Ballet presents A Night on the Town at Two River Theater (RED BANK, NJ) -- New Jersey Ballet Company presents A Night on the Town with three performances at the Two River Theater in Red Bank from November 4-5. A Night on the Town features Jerome Robbins' Fancy Free & George Balanchine’s Rubies and more.

Saturday - Vivid Stage's Improv Team The Flip Side presents The Afterlife (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will present its house improv team, The Flip Side, on November 4 at 8:00pm. The theme of the show will be The Afterlife, as the improvisers take the audience on a kooky and irreverent journey through what lies beyond.

Sunday - MPAC presents Tower of Power (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Tower of Power, known for their iconic horn-led funk and soul sound, is celebrating 55 years of touring and comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Sunday, November 5 at 7:30pm.

2023 Teaneck International Film Festival Preview (TEANECK, NJ) -- The 18th annual Teaneck International Film Festival will be held in partnership with the Puffin Foundation, Ltd., November 5-12.  This year “the film festival with a social conscience” will be dedicated to the late Bob McGrath, beloved resident of Teaneck and Sesame Street. The festival will be hybrid with both in-person (live) screenings and virtual screenings.

MANIA: The ABBA Tribute Has Shows in Red Bank and Collingswood  -- MANIA: The ABBA Tribute visits the Garden State this week with shows at Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 8:00pm and at The Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 8:00pm.

Thursday - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Dave Keller Band (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- During the past decade, Dave Keller has earned a reputation as a "magnificent soul singer" (Elmore Magazine), a "stellar" guitarist (AXS.com), and a "songwriting genius" (Living Blues).

Thursday - Ars Vitalis at Kean University Presents the Music of Trent Johnson (UNION, NJ) -- The critically acclaimed Ars Vitalis: The New Jersey New Music Forum at Kean University will present a concert of chamber music arrangements of scenes from the opera Kenyatta by composer Trent Johnson, including a panel discussion with the composer and librettist Richard Wesley. The concert takes place on Thursday, November 2 at 7:30pm at Kean University's Enlow Recital Hall. Admission is free.

Friday - Performance artist Sholeh Asgary and jazz clarinetist David Rothenberg to Perform at Gallery Bergen (PARAMUS, NJ) — Iranian American sound/performance artist Sholeh Asgary and ECM recording artist/clarinetist David Rothenberg will perform in an evening of new music and improvisation at Bergen Community College’s Gallery Bergen on Friday, November 3, beginning at 7:00pm. Ghost Wind is a part of the ongoing exhibition at the gallery, The Cup Flows Over: Art from the Soul of Iran presenting the art of contemporary Iranian artists from Iran and the diaspora. Friday - SOPAC presents John Oates: An Evening of Stories & Songs (SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) presents John Oates: An Evening of Stories & Songs on Friday, November 3 at 8:00pm. Sit back and experience a unique acoustic performance by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and American Songwriter Hall of Fame artist John Oates as he takes you on a musical time trip.

Saturday - Holmdel Theatre Company's Broadway at the Barn presents Jenn Colella (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Following her sold-out NYC solo concerts, Tony® nominee and Grammy Award winner Jenn Colella makes her Holmdel Theatre Company Broadway at the Barn debut on Saturday, November 4 at 8:00pm. Throughout a delicious mix of pop, rock, funk and musical theatre songs, Jenn will share her coming out stories and celebrate love in all its many forms.

Saturday - The Sieminski Theater presents Sons of Serendip (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Billboard charting quartet, Sons of Serendip, won the hearts of fans and judges alike as finalists on America's Got Talent with their ethereal and emotionally stirring interpretations of pop music, arranged with a unique blend of vocals, harp, piano, and cello. The Sieminski Theater presents this internationally renowned group on Saturday, November 4th for a 7:30pm performance.

Saturday - Symphony in C to Kick Off 2023-2024 Season at Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts on November 4th (CAMDEN, NJ) -- New Jersey-based professional training orchestra Symphony in C launches its 2023-2024 season with its new Music Director, Noam Aviel, on Saturday, November 4 at Gordon Theater at the Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts in Camden, New Jersey. The concert features Smetana's Overture from The Bartered Bride, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4, and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18 performed by piano prodigy Harmony Zhu. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Monday - Re-Discover the "Brill Building Sound" at Ocean County Library Tuckerton Branch (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The tidal wave of music that shaped American youth culture in the 1950s and '60s flowed from a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan. Experience "The Brill Building Sound" with pop culture historian Jimmy Scalia at the Ocean County Library Tuckerton Branch on Monday, November 6. The event begins at 7:00pm.

THEATRE

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "The Great Gatsby" (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the complete cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of The Great Gatsby, based on the iconic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The highly anticipated production will play October 12-November 12 at Paper Mill Playhouse. 

Center Players to Open Season with "Steel Magnolias" (FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Center Players will begin its 2023-24 season with a Signature Series production of the enduringly popular Steel Magnolias. The comedic drama will run weekends from October 13 to November 5 at Center Playhouse.

Mile Square Theatre presents the World Premiere of "Funny, Like An Abortion" (HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Mile Square Theatre will kick off their 20th anniversary season with the World Premiere of Funny, Like An Abortion, directed by Madsie Flynn, from October 18 through November 5. This is a hilarious political comedy about the power of friendship. In a post-Roe world, Monroe finds herself knocked up and throws herself a surprise abortion party.

Art House Productions presents "Tracy Jones" (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents the NJ premiere of Stephen Kaplan's play Tracy Jones, directed by Alex Tobey, with performances across three weekends from October 19 through November 5. The play is a touching comedy of individual connection in an increasingly busy world. The main character, Tracy Jones, rents out the back "party room" of Jones Street Bar and Grill: The Place for Wings and Things to throw a party to which she's invited every woman in the area who is also named Tracy Jones.

Chatham Community Players presents "Grand Horizons" (CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players will open its 102nd Season with the hilarious and heartbreaking play, Grand Horizons by Beth Wohl from October 20 – November 4 at The Chatham Playhouse. In the play, Bill and Nancy have spent fifty full years as husband and wife. They practically breathe in unison, and can anticipate each other's every sigh, snore, and sneeze. But just as they settle comfortably into their new home in Grand Horizons, the unthinkable happens: Nancy suddenly wants out.

Luna Stage presents the World Premiere of "Westphalia" (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage presents the World Premiere of Westphalia by Helen Banner from October 21-November 12. Directed by Lila Rachel Becker on Luna's MainStage, Westphalia imagines a futuristic world in which citizenship can be bought and sold, and where artificial intelligence determines an individual's psychological fitness to make bold life choices.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Elf, the Musical" (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) presents a special four-weekend run of Elf, the Musical from October 27 through November 19. Get in the holiday spirit with the family favorite based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit!

Bergen County Players to present "Master Class" (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America’s longest-running little theater companies, is excited to present the intense and powerful Tony Award-winning Master Class, weekends from October 28 to November 18. Under the direction of Alan Demovsky, this dramatic and profound play by Terrence McNally, one of America's preeminent playwrights, is regarded as "rich, vivid," and "satisfying" by The New York Times. The drama about famed opera singer Maria Callas will coincide this year with the 100th anniversary of her birth.

Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents Disney's "The Little Mermaid" (PITMAN, NJ) -- Broadway Theatre of Pitman is presenting Disney's The Little Mermaid weekends through November 19. Based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, and the wildly popular Disney film, this musical staging of The Little Mermaid features a funny and fanciful book by Doug Wright, with the beloved score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Glenn Slater in an expanded but completely faithful form.

COMEDY

Wednesday - The Underground @ Carteret PAC presents Dale Elliott, Jr. (CARTERET, NJ) -- Dale Elliott, Jr. brings his Problem Child: Bad Pickney Tour to The Underground at Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center on Wednesday, November 1 at 7:00pm. Dale's hilarious and relatable sketches about growing up Jamaican on Instagram have made him a household name within the Caribbean diaspora and beyond.

Saturday - Sherman Theater presents Comedian Vic DiBitetto (STROUDSBURG, PA) -- Comedian Vic DiBitetto, also know as "The Italian Hurricane" is coming to the Sherman Theater on November 4. An incredibly powerful performer, DiBitetto churns energy, honesty and humanity into nonstop laughter. His pace is frenetic, and he's been called a cross between Rodney Dangerfield and Ralph Kramden.

DANCE

Nimbus Dance presents "Slow Fade" Featuring Four Emotionally Driven Works in First-ever Fall Repertory Season. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- On November 3-4, Nimbus Dance kicks off the company's 2023-24 season with a weekend of performances at the Nimbus Arts Center. Nimbus presents two iconic works by Nimbus Artistic Director Samuel Pott, and works by acclaimed Japanese choreographer Yoshito Sakuraba, and by legendary dancemaker, and co-founder of Pilobolus, Alison Chase.

FILM

Lighthouse International Film Society to Screen "The Stones and Brian Jones". (LOVELADIES, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents two screenings of The Stones and Brian Jones - one on Friday, November 3 at Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences in Loveladies and another on Friday, November 10 at Spring Lake Theatre in Spring Lake. Both screenings begin at 7:30pm.

Sunday, November 5, 2023 - TIFF, Puffin, Teaneck Public Library, Friends of the Library present Kid Flicks One. (TEANECK, NJ) -- Kid Flicks One is back at the Teaneck International Film Festival! The 63-minute program of award winning shorts for children ages five to ten, from the New York International Children's Film Festival, is being presented - free of charge - in partnership with The Puffin Foundation, Ltd., Teaneck Public Library, and Friends of the Teaneck Library, on Sunday, November 5 at 1:30pm, in the library auditorium (840 Teaneck Rd). Light refreshments will be served.

Tuesday - NJPAC presents Halloween Queens of RuPaul's Drag Race (NEWARK, NJ) -- Hey New Jersey, Get Ready, the time has come for a hair-raising, death-dropping extravaganza starring the Halloween Queens of RuPaul's Drag Race comes to NJPAC on Tuesday, October 31 at 8:00pm.

Wednesday - Stockton to Host Community and Veteran Wellness and Resource Fair (GALLOWAY, NJ) -- Stockton University's Military and Veteran Success Center will host its second annual Community and Veteran Wellness and Resource Fair on Wednesday, November 1 in the Campus Center. The event will be held from 11:00am to 3:00pm and is in partnership with the Wilmington (Delaware) Veterans Affairs Medical Center. It will feature resources and information for veterans and/or their dependents from about 50 state, county, federal and nonprofit organizations..

Thursday - Ocean County Library's Lakewood Branch to Hold 25th Anniversary Fall Festival (LAKEWOOD, NJ) -- Everyone is invited to join the excitement as the Ocean County Library Lakewood Branch celebrates a milestone. The Branch's 25th Anniversary Fall Festival kicks off at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 2, with more fun Saturday, November 4.

RVCC to Co-host Community-wide Kristallnacht Programs (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present in-person and online programs in November commemorating Kristallnacht. The events are free of charge and open to the public. Registration is required.

Saturday - Arts & Health Mercer to Kick Off November 4th (MERCER COUNTY, NJ) -- Participation in the arts has a positive impact on our physical, emotional and social health, which is why nearly a dozen arts and cultural organizations in Mercer County have come together as one coalition called Arts & Health Mercer to share this message and generate awareness of the health benefits of the arts.
