(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The tidal wave of music that shaped American youth culture in the 1950s and ‘60s flowed from a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan. Experience “The Brill Building Sound” with pop culture historian Jimmy Scalia at the Ocean County Library Tuckerton Branch on Monday, November 6, 2023. The event begins at 7:00pm.
In his newest program, Scalia, the official Bobby Darin Archivist, will showcase many of the talented musicians, singers and songwriters who filled the corridors of 1619 Broadway with driving rock and smooth ballads that spread musical magic around the world.
He’ll share stories of legendary performers including Bobby Darin, Carole King, Neil Sedaka, the Drifters, the Monkees, and Tony Orlando & Dawn, and also of prolific songwriters such as Doc Pomus, Jerry Lieber, and Mike Stoller.
