(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- West Windsor Arts presents The Benefits of Art on Mental Health-Card Box Workshop on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. In this interactive workshop, Faith Saunders will delve into the Dimensions of Wellness, examining the eight areas necessary to achieve a healthy and balanced life. In addition, you'll make a lovely box card to remind you to prioritize your mental wellness every day.
Studies show that art engagement has a significant impact on mental health. Art activities can boost confidence, encourage participation, and enhance resilience. Moreover, it can lower anxiety, depression, and stress levels.This workshop is held in support of of Arts and Health month through Mercer County to promote the role of healing, affirming, and nurturing healthy individuals through creating art.
The cost is $36 for Members and $40 for Non-Members. Materials Fee of $10 due to the teaching artist at the beginning of the workshop. The workshop takes place at the West Windsor Arts Center (952 Alexander Road) in West Windsor, New Jersey.

Faith Saunders was born and raised in Mandeville, Jamaica. She migrated to the United States at age 20 and have lived in Somerset, New Jersey for the past 28 years. In October 2007, Faith reluctantly accepted an invitation to attend a social event to make handmade holiday cards for family and friends. Unbeknownst to her, this experience was to be a turning point in her life. It was then she uncovered a part of her that she had no clue existed – the artist. Since then, Faith has created various art pieces. She started out making handmade cards, but over the years, she has dabbled in expressing her creativity in many ways such as jewelry making, pottery, etc.
Faith was the recipient of the Central New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) prestigious Emerging Entrepreneur Award in 2009. She was featured on FOX News and in several publications like the Courier News, Home Tribune News, and the New Jersey Patch, as she uses her art to connect people to each other. For example, she has collaborated with Franklin Township Library to bring community members together to create cards for persons who were hospitalized with cancer. Faith is also the author of two books—BREAK FREE: 52 Tips to Escape from Your Self-Imposed Prison and Journal to Wellness. When asked, how she would describe herself, Faith’s response was, “A person who would like to leave this earth a better place than when she got here.”
West Windsor Arts is located at 952 Alexander Road in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. They offer art and cultural events, workshops, and classes for all ages and in all disciplines at the West Windsor Arts Center and in the community.
