(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- This March, come see New Jersey native Danny DeVito narrate the film Matilda, while David Newman's enchanting score is performed live to picture! Acclaimed actor, producer and director Danny DeVito will join famed film composer David Newman and the New Jersey Symphony in a very special performance of Matilda in Concert at State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick, NJ, on March 22, 2024. The performance will also feature celebrity guest appearances by actors who played characters in Matilda, including Pam Ferris (Trunchbull), Rhea Perlman (Mrs. Wormwood) and Mara Wilson (Matilda).

Saturday, March 23 - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents John McEuen. (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- Lizzie Rose Music Room presents multi-instrumentalist John McEuen on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 7:30pm. John was a member of the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for over 20 years and has rejoined them for several reunions and special music projects.

Thursday, March 21 - Westminster Conservatory Noontime Recitals presents music for viola and piano. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will present a recital of music for viola and piano on March 21, 2024 at 12:15pm The performers, Dennis Krasnokutsky, viola, and Larissa Korkina, piano, are members of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory of Music. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church (61 Nassau Street) in Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge.

Friday, March 22 - Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Samantha Fish. (COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) -- The Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Samantha Fish on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 8:00pm. Saturday, March 23 - NJPAC presents Joey Fatone of *NSYNC and AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark! Saturday, March 23 - Guitarist and Songwriter Rupert Wates in Concert. (SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ) -- Guitarist and Songwriter Rupert Wates will perform at The All Saints' Episcopal Church in Scotch Plains on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 7:30pm. The acclaimed finger-picking guitarist plays an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, contemporary and traditional – with other touches like classical, vaudeville, and cabaret.

Saturday, March 23 - Centenary Stage Company presents Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. and the Legendary Il Sont Partis Band. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's concert series continues with a performance by Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. and the Legendary Il Sont Partis Band on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 8:00pm. The concert will take place at CSC's Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center.

Sunday, March 24 - New Jersey Youth Symphony Returns to The Mills at Jersey Gardens for its Annual PLAYATHON. (ELIZABETH, NJ) -- The New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS) returns to The Mills at Jersey Gardens, New Jersey's largest outlet and value retail center, for its annual Playathon on Sunday, March 24. Nearly 600 talented young musicians will entertain shoppers with pops favorites, including symphonic highlights from Harry Potter, The Lord of The Rings, and Star Wars. In addition to the festival orchestra performance in Center Court at 3:00pm, two additional stages will feature NJYS jazz and woodwind performers beginning at 12:30pm.

THEATRE

Regional Premiere of "Rabbit Summer" at Mile Square Theatre. (HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Mile Square Theatre proudly announces the regional premiere of Rabbit Summer, a play written and directed by multi-hyphenate performer, playwright and director, Tracey Conyer Lee. This production marks a historic moment as the first time the playwright will direct her own work. Starring Steven St. Pierre as Wilson, Tsebiyah Mishael Derry as Claire, and Ricky Lyne'e as Ruby, Rabbit Summer is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged production. Performances run from March 6-30, 2024.

Tony Award-Nominee Kate Baldwin to star in American Theater Group's "A Little Night Music". (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Broadway's Kate Baldwin will star as Desiree in American Theater Group's (ATG) upcoming season premiere of Stephen Sondheim's beloved A Little Night Music. The production will run March 7-10, 2024 at the Sieminski Theater in Basking Ridge and March 14-24, 2024 at Hamilton Stage in Rahway. Baldwin will share the stage with her husband Graham Rowat (Broadway: Dear Evan Hanson, Sunset Boulevard) as Fredrik.

Bergen County Players presents "The Fantasticks". (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, continues its 92nd season with the longest-running musical classic, The Fantasticks. Full of buoyant humor, charming tunes, and a sprinkle of magic, The Fantasticks has been hailed as "a beautiful, poetic, and highly theatrical tale of the power and depth of love — gained, lost and found again" (Broadway World). Performances run March 9 through April 6, 2024.

Theater To Go presents "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" at Kelsey Theatre. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Theater To Go continues its salute to New Jersey playwrights at Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC) Kelsey Theatre with the musical comedy "I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change," penned by Bergen County native Joe DiPietro, March 15-24.

National Premiere of "A Trojan Woman" comes to Luna Stage. (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage is thrilled to announce the National Premiere of A Trojan Woman, a searing solo performance adapted from Euripides by Maplewood resident Sara Farrington, directed by Meghan Finn and starring Drita Kabashi. Performances run from March 15-24, 2024.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Hello, Dolly!". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) presents a four-weekend run of Hello, Dolly! from March 15th to April 7th. This is the fourth mainstage show of MMT's 2024 season, and the first to premiere on the Martinson Stage at MMT. The stage will be so named following a ribbon-cutting ceremony the previous evening in honor of John H. Martinson, a generous supporter of MMT.

Lewis Center for the Arts to Host a Conversation between Playwright Larissa FastHorse and Director/Playwright Michael John Garcés. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- On March 20, 2024 the Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University presents a conversation between playwright and member of the Sicangu Lakota Nation Larissa FastHorse, author of the widely produced The Thanksgiving Play, and Michael John Garcés, director, playwright, and recent artistic director of Cornerstone Theater Company in Los Angeles.

Black Box PAC presents Staged Reading of "At Home At The Zoo" by Edward Albee. (TEANECK, NJ) -- In association with The Estate of Edward Albee, Black Box PAC presents a staged reading of At Home At The Zoo (1959/2004) on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall. Originally titled Peter & Jerry, At Home At The Zoo combines Albee's classic short play The Zoo Story (1959) with its prequel, Homelife (2004). Together these short plays form a complete story of Peter, a publishing executive; Ann, his wife; and Jerry, a stranger Peter meets in the park. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Beats, Rhymes, and Spoken Word Unite in Dahlak Brathwaite's "Spiritrials" at Vanguard Theater. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater proudly announces the electrifying arrival of Def Poetry Jam luminary Dahlak Brathwaite's transformative hip-hop theater experience, "Spiritrials." This dynamic production seamlessly intertwines beats, rhymes, and spoken word, offering a unique meditation on the convergence of musical expression and historical struggle. For an exclusive weekend engagement from March 22-25, 2024, audiences are invited to witness this evocative performance that pushes the boundaries of storytelling.

Teaneck High School presents the ABBA musical "Mamma Mia!". (TEANECK, NJ) -- The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Teaneck High School (THS) is proud to present the Broadway musical, Mamma Mia!, at the Helen B. Hill Auditorium at Teaneck High (100 Elizabeth Avenue). The musical has performances Friday March 23rd and Saturday March 24th at 7:00pm, and Sunday March 25th at 2:00pm. The show is produced by special arrangement with MTI.

The Theater Project to Honor winners of 22nd Annual Young Playwrights Competition. (UNION, NJ) -- Twelve talented New Jersey high school students will be honored in The Theater Project's 22nd annual Young Playwrights Performance and Awards Ceremony on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 7:30pm. The event includes opportunities to meet the honorees and see the four winning plays read by professional actors. The Theater Project, is a leading incubator for rising talent and a showcase for New Jersey artists. The event is free to watch via Zoom.

COMEDY

Saturday, March 23 - Sherman Theater presents Comedian Eric D'Alessandro. (STROUDSBURG, PA) -- Comedian and viral sensation Eric D'Alessandro is coming to the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA on March 23, 2024. Doors are at 7:00pm, showtime is 8:00pm. Tickets range from $28 to $48.

FILM

Thursday, March 21 - Garden State Film Festival Returns March 21-24. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) returns for its 22nd year March 21-24, 2024 with screenings in Asbury Park and Cranford, showcasing over 200 films from 14 countries in eight venues. GSFF rolls out the red carpet for a fusion of world premieres, Hollywood luminaries, and interactive industry panels.

Thursday, March 21 - A Cinematic Tribute to Candy Darling: "Beautiful Darling" Documentary Screening Marks 50th Anniversary of Icon's Passing. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Candy Darling's passing, The ShowRoom, in collaboration with Asbury Book Cooperative, are proud to present a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Beautiful Darling on Thursday, March 21st, at 7:30pm. This screening, in conjunction with the release of Cynthia Carr's definitive biography on the iconic figure, promises an evening of reflection, celebration, and appreciation for one of the most captivating personalities of the 20th century.

Saturday, March 23 - Manalapan Filmmaker's "Why I Had to Kill You While You Slept" to Screen at Garden State Film Festival. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) takes place March 21-24 in Asbury Park and Cranford. Among the 200 films being screened are feature length and short films, documentaries, comedies, children's, thrillers, pilots, student films and "Home-Grown”" films shot in New Jersey. One such film is Why I Had To Kill You While You Slept, which was written, directed and edited by Manalapan resident, Anthony Marinelli, will screen on Saturday, March 23rd at 2:30pm at Asbury Hall in the Asbury Hotel, block TA10.

COMMUNITY

Thursday, March 21 - Arts Council of Princeton presents Story & Verse on March 21st. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) will continue their monthly Story & Verse Open Mic every third Thursday at the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts. Since 2020, Story & Verse has provided a warm and welcoming spotlight for both emerging and established artists in the ACP's Solley Theater, an intimate space in the heart of Downtown Princeton. The next event takes place on March 21st.

Thursday, March 21 - In Full Color All Stars - Music, Poetry, and Stories By Women. Femmes, and TGNC folx of color Event coming to Jersey City. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) — In Full Color All-Stars will showcase music, poetry, stories, and more by 11 BIPOC artists on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at New Jersey City University School of Business Skyline Room. The event takes place from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, opening with light bites and vendors. Showtime is 7:00pm. There will be an intermission. Admission is free.

Saturday, March 23 - Sieminski Theater presents The Great DuBois. (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Step right up, The Great DuBois are coming, and they are ready to dazzle you with their unparalleled talent and boundless creativity! The two-person circus act, that captivated audiences in the film The Greatest Showman, is coming to The Sieminski Theater for two spellbinding performances on Saturday, March 23rd at 7:30pm & Sunday, March 24th, at 2:30pm.

Monday, March 25 - Brian LoPinto to talk about the History of Hinchliffe Stadium at Union Public Library. (VAUXHALL, NJ) -- The Union Public Library presents "When the Eagles Flew North: A Retrospective on the Newark Eagles' Time at Hinchliffe Stadium" on Monday, March 25 at 6:00pm. Hinchliffe Stadium historian, Brian LoPinto, will take you through Hinchliffe Stadium's history with a focus on the Newark Eagles contributions as a home team at this historic venue. This program takes place at Vauxhall Branch.
