Here's a look at the top 15 most read articles published at New Jersey Stage from March 19-25, 2023. Each week we publish about 70 articles, including several original columns and features, along with news releases for events happening throughout the state and nearby areas like Philadelphia and New York City. This week's top 15 includes articles from 6 counties in New Jersey (Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset). Topics included film, theatre, music, dance, and community.

1) "The Jersey Storm: Sandy in Monmouth County" to Screen at Garden State Film Festival - (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- New Jersey’s Premier Independent Film Festival is celebrating its 21st Anniversary March 23 – 26.  The internationally recognized Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) celebrates the independent film genre by bringing a carefully curated and enriching selection of original works from locally produced filmmakers as well as from around the world.

2) Remember When...The Good Ol’ Days - Yes, I am guilty myself. I admit it. Just thinking about what we refer to as the Good Ol’ Days. When we would go out to a club to see a favorite band two, maybe three times a week and stay out till 2am. Then without blinking an eye, get up for work the next day… no problem...right, after the second cup of coffee we’re raring to go to work.

3) PHOTOS from "Oliver" at Music Mountain Theatre - (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre is presenting Oliver, the award-winning musical adaptation of the classic Dickens novel, weekends through April 9. This musical features some of the most memorable characters and songs ever to grace the stage. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

4) East Coast Rock 'N' Roll Pioneer Kenny Vance To Receive "Spirit of New Jersey" Award at 21st Garden State Film Festival on Saturday - (ASBURY PARK, NJ) --The cultural impact of Kenny Vance, iconic American singer, songwriter, multi-platinum-selling record producer, actor, and film director, garners Spirit of New Jersey Award at the Garden State Film Festival, where his directorial debut film Heart & Soul will screen on Saturday, March 25th at Asbury Lanes.

6) PHOTOS from A Marvelous Night: The Music of Van Morrison at The Vogel - (RED BANK, NJ) -- On Saturday, March 18, The Vogel hosted A Marvelous Night: The Music of Van Morrison. This is one of Pat Guadagno's signature shows where he pays tribute to a legend with support from the Gypsy Souls, an excellent cast of artists.  Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

10) PHOTOS from "Kinky Boots" at Algonquin Arts Theatre - (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre is presenting the musical, Kinky Boots now through April 2.  Kinky Boots is the winner of every major Best Musical award, including the Tony, the Grammy and London's Olivier Award. Based on the 2005 film of the same title and true events, this huge-hearted hit tells the story of two people with nothing in common - or so they think! Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

11) REVIEW: "Disney's Hercules" at Paper Mill Playhouse - There’s a fine line with Disney’s adaptations of its animated musicals to the stage.  Of the cannon, only “Lion King” has successfully fully made the leap from two dimensional.  Paper Mill Playhouse and Disney’s stab at updating the big screen version of “Hercules” has wonderful elements, many strong performances, a solid book, but feels under baked in battle for audience dollars.  There's clear appeal for families, especially boys which is admirable.

12) REVIEW: "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" - These are the sounds that send a speller home: (Ding!) “That is incorrect!”

And those sounds inevitably signal the exit of nine of 10 contestants in the “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” underway at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick through April 9.
