Two River Theater Presents "A Raisin In The Sun" By Lorraine Hansberry

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater kicks off its 2017-18 Season with Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Carl Cofield. Performances run from September 9 through October 8. In this landmark drama, Hansberry—drawing on her own family’s experience with housing discrimination—dramatizes the story of the Younger family, headed by matriarch Lena Younger, her son Walter Lee, and his wife, Ruth, who live (with other family members) in poverty on Chicago’s south side.

Playin’ Around South Orange Returns For 5th Year

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Playin’ Around South Orange, supported in part by Valley National Bank, kicks off for the fifth year on Saturday, August 26 at noon, bringing live music and art in the form of hand-painted pianos and outdoor performances to five separate South Orange locations. The SOPAC-presented project runs from Aug. 26 - Oct.1.  Other community supporters of the effort include the Village of South Orange, South Orange Village Center Alliance and Seton Hall University.


Lisa Bouchelle Tops 1 Million Streams With "Lipstick Tomboy"

Lipstick Tomboy, the latest EP release from rising Americana /Alt-Country artist Lisa Bouchelle, has now surpassed 1.1 million streams on Spotify, with over 35,000 monthly listeners. A video for the first single, a duet with John Popper of Blues Traveler called “Only The Tequila Talkin’,” has garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube.

New York State Of Mind Closes Out Union County Summer Arts Festival

(CLARK, NJ) -- The Union County Summer Arts Festival Concert Series for 2017 will come to a close at Oak Ridge Park in Clark on Wednesday, August 23, with a performance by New York State of Mind, performing the music of Billy Joel. Show time is scheduled for 7:30pm.

In the 1960s, Eddie Brigati, a Jersey Boy from Garfield, became world-famous for his work with his iconic band, The Rascals. For that legendary Jersey group, Brigati and his songwriting partner, Felix Cavaliere, created some of the most enduring songs of their generation, notably “A Beautiful Morning,” “Groovin’,” “People Got to Be Free,” “I’ve Been Lonely Too Long,” “You Better Run,” “How Can I Be Sure,” and many more.


Remember Jones Returns to Axelrod Stage

(DEAL PARK, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) presents Remember Jones in Concert on Thursday, August 24, at 8:00pm. Having performed to sold-out houses for the past two summers at APAC, Remember Jones remains a favorite on Jersey Shore stages. Called a “Soul sensation” by the Asbury Park Press, the singer received the Asbury Park Music Award’s Top Vocalist in 2016. APAC produced Remember Jones’s tribute Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” album last summer at the House of Independents in Asbury Park.
