Phavors, an Art Rock/Indie Folk/Dreampop music duo from central New Jersey, released The Petals EP on May 28, 2020. Consisting of Philip Marflak and Kayla DeRosa, their passion for pretty, emotional music is heavily influenced by artists such as Sigur Ros, Jonsi & Alex, and Bon Iver, and the vocals are commonly compared to Billie Eilish's. Phavors likes to push the boundaries of music through atmospheric textures while still incorporating the warmth of acoustic instruments.

Their music and lyrics are written by Marflak. The beautiful, soothing, gentle vocals are supplied by Kayla DeRosa. The two met when Phil was teaching Kayla guitar lessons. After meeting up to record a music project for a school assignment, Phil decided to take it further and create Phavors. All recording, mixing and mastering is done in Phil's home studios. All visual artwork is original.

Their single "Petals" (available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services) was released in February 2020.  In January, they took advantage of a shockingly warm Saturday to film some live acoustic performances of "Petals". The recordings were compiled together to create this video.

"We’ve all been through some kind of hell. We all hide things that hurt us. And that’s okay. But we can learn to face these things, let them go, and grow. We can learn to love ourselves fully and unconditionally, just as we do to many others in our lives. We owe these favors to ourselves," the band says on their Facebook Page.

Philip Marflak is a songwriter, producer, sound engineer and private music instructor. After graduating with a degree in Music Production from Berklee Online, he began working on releasing the music that he’s been writing. Some songs were written years ago, others just months ago. Some of his influences are Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Jonsi & Alex Somers, John Mayer, My Bloody Valentine, Thom Yorke, Mandolin Orange, and Phoenix. Philip plays guitar, drums, bass, and piano. He records, mixes, and masters all of the Phavors music himself at his home studios.
