(PRINCETON, NJ) --Argentine pianist Antonio Formaro will present a lecture recital focusing on Mendelssohn and the early Romantic masters Beethoven and Weber on Sunday, March 8 at 3:00pm in Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton. Admission is free.

A recipient of the Konex Cultural Award for “Best Argentine Pianist,” Formaro has been hailed by the Buenos Aires Herald as "one of the best Argentine pianists" and a "pianist of extraordinary talent."  He has been recognized for his research and performances of Mendelssohn’s works for piano.  Based on his expertise, in 2017 he was invited to become a member of the Mendelssohn-Gesellschaft Society in Berlin.

Since his debut at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires at age 17 and his first international tour in 1999, Formaro has performed as a soloist for the most important orchestras in Argentina, Latin America and Europe.  Additionally, his recitals have garnered praiseworthy reviews.  He made his debut at the legendary Gewandhaus in Leipzig at the end of 2015. Since then, he has performed at the Piano Festival of Bologna, the Mendelssohn-Saal in Berlin, the Philharmonie Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in London, and the Konzerthaus in Vienna.

He has recorded four CDs that reflect both his expertise in Mendelssohn and Argentine repertoire. Formaro is a professor of piano at the National Conservatory Lopez Buchardo, and he directs the piano department at the UCA (Catholic University of Argentina), from which he earned a degree in composition. For the past two years he has been presenting seminars throughout Latin America and Europe.

Westminster College of the Arts gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Dr. Helmuth H. Fuchs for this program.
