(PRINCETON, NJ) -- "Leading off our summer highlights, Morven is honored to collaborate with the National Writing Project and Rider University on July 12 for a screening of the film American Creed paired with a community conversation on what it means to be an American," Morven's Executive Director Jill Barry said recently.  "Hosting this event at the home of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence makes it even more meaningful." This full-day event is free to the public and includes lunch by Princeton Soup & Sandwich provided through a grant from Citizen Films.

Art, Poetry, and Flowers - In collaboration with the Arts Council of Princeton, Dressler Smith teaches her popular Drawing the Garden at Morven watercolor painting class on Wednesdays July 10 through 31 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Registration is through the Arts Council of Princeton

Morven's Deputy Director and Curator Elizabeth Allan shares insights into one of Morven's first residents, and one of America's earliest published female poets, Annis Boudinot Stockton, on Wednesday July 24 at 2:00 p.m. celebrating her July birthday with an illustrated lecture and Q&A. Tea and Tour are also available, registration required.

On Saturday, July 27 from 11:00am to 1:30pm, spend an afternoon as Victorian women might have, creating pressed flower art with flowers from Morven's gardens. With Morven's Curator of Education Debra Lampert-Rudman learn the "love language" of flowers, enjoy an illustrated powerpoint on this Victorian art form, and create artwork of your own special design suitable for framing.

Summer Tours: Day & Twilight - "Princeton is renowned for wonderful walking tours and again this year Morven's visitors have a chance to join our docents and Curator of Education for outdoor walking tours," Barry said. "Our summertime tours feature the museum's history and grounds. It's a great opportunity for families to enjoy time here - bring a picnic, take a tour - a perfect oasis in the middle of Princeton." This year, for the first time, Morven is partnering with the Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton for a stargazing evening following our July 25 Twilight Tour.

Twilight Tours are held at 7:00pm on the last Thursday of each month through September and are $10.00 per person, free for Friends of Morven. "Photography is welcome and we invite you to share your photos on Facebook and Instagram #morvensummer," Barry added.

Garden Tours highlighting "what's in bloom" in Morven's historic gardens are held every Friday through October 4 at 11:00am and include admission to the Museum. Docent-led tours inside Morven's recently reinstalled permanent first floor exhibition are available at 11, noon, 1 and 2pm Wednesday through Sunday.

Summertime is for Kids at Morven - On July 25 at 11:00am, Morven celebrates one of its most inspiring visitors, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin. As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of his moon landing, we will read My Little Golden Book About the First Moon Landing by Charles Lovitt (Author), Bryan Sims (Illustrator) then create a take-home rocket craft in Morven's gardens.

Camp Morven - Camp Morven returns to Morven beginning August 5 for four themed week-long day camps in collaboration with the Arts Council of Princeton.

"From Teen Arts Studio: Botanical Art And Architecture, to the Art of Nature, Art of Sports and 'Encampment' on the anniversary of the week Rochambeau led the French expeditionary forces through Princeton during the Revolution, we are excited about offering these quality artistic and historic camp programs," Barry added.

Morven's spray pool, located beside its historic Pool House built by former Morven resident Robert Wood Johnson, Jr, will "splash" on campers' last day, each week. Registration is exclusively through the Arts Council of Princeton online.  For additional information email [email protected]

Morven Museum & Garden, 55 Stockton Street, Princeton, NJ,  is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

For more than 200 years Morven has played a role in the history of New Jersey and the nation. Originally part of a 5,500-acre tract purchased from William Penn in 1701 by the Stockton family, it is  the home of Richard Stockton, a Signer of the Declaration of Independence. As well as serving as a Stockton homestead for several generations into the 20th century, Morven was home to the families of Robert Wood Johnson Jr., and five New Jersey governors.
