
(GLASSBORO, NJ) -- Renowned Norwegian musician Karl Kramer-Johansen returns to Rowan University for a recital featuring a World Premiere performance on Wednesday, October 4 at 8:00pm in the university’s Boyd Recital Hall.
The award-winning horn player appears in recital highlighting his own compositions, including the debut of "Five Pages from Gerry’s Abridged World Atlas" (2017). He is joined for this performance by Rowan faculty member Bryan Appleby-Wineberg (trumpet & flugelhorn) and Oksana Glouchko (piano).
In addition to his recital, Kramer-Johansen will offer a masterclass earlier on October 4, again in Boyd Recital Hall, at 2:00pm.
Born in Norway, Kramer-Johansen is a member of the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players. He joined the world-renowned Dorian Wind Quintet in 2005. He is also active as a recitalist, lecturer, conductor and composer, and much in demand for masterclasses nationally and internationally. He has recorded for the Philips, Summit and Aurora labels, and can be heard on several major movie soundtracks. His many honors include awards at the American Horn Competition (1997 and 1999) and the 1994 Scandinavian Horn Competition. In 2001 he won the American Scandinavian Society Cultural Award. He was the recipient of the 1997 George and Elizabeth Gregory Award for Excellence in Performance, as well as a 2010 Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance working grant.
Boyd Recital Hall is located in Wilson Hall on the campus of Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro. Admission is free and open to the public.
