Local Theater Group Supports 180 Turning Lives Around

When Lauren Matthews Raad founded the Garden State Players last year, she wanted to give back to the community. This month, GSP has given its first major donation to a local nonprofit, 180 Turning Lives Around. On April 12, Raad presented 180 with a check for $2,700, which GSP raised through various efforts, including ticket sales from its March show. An additional $300 was given to V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls.

"I am excited to be able to support 180 Turning Lives Around, which provides vital services to Monmouth County residents who are affected by domestic and sexual violence, as well as to V-Day, which is a worldwide movement." said Raad.

GSP recently announced its summer musical, "Footloose," which will be performed at Raritan High School, Hazlet, in August. In keeping with Raad's vision to give back, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Meridian Healthcare's new Pediatric Care Center. Auditions for "Footloose" will be held May 18-19.
