In addition to Armesto, the organization's artistic core includes Music Impresario Michael Thomas Murray and Creative Producer Alecia Brooks. This is the creative team that brought to Asbury Park the critically renowned KINGDOM (2009), THE WHO'S TOMMY (2010), and SPRING AWAKENING (2011). Also, Murray and Brooks were driving creative forces on THE BIKINIS (2010), ROCKY HORROR (2010) and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (2011) at The Carousel House.
L!VE ASBURY PARK is in the process of finalizing a permanent year-round performance space in downtown Asbury. In the interim, we plan to present five concert performances of rock musicals at THE PRESS ROOM located at 610 Bangs Avenue and other local venues. In 2013, in addition to its concert series, the company plans to present its first Main Stage production in the new space. The eventual goal is to have a four-production Main Stage series, a concert series, an educational program and a developmental series for new work.
"This community has a rawness, a sophistication, and a demand for an authentic sound and spirit; especially when it comes to Rock n' Roll" says Armesto. "We want to bring that electric energy to all the performing arts, an energy that is unique only to Asbury Park."
The Founding Board includes Carlos Armesto, Trip Brooks, Alecia Brooks, Robert & Roberta Obler and Robert & Anita Weiner. Robert Weiner states, "We were honored to be asked to be members of the board of L!VE ASBURY PARK. The artistic founders of L!VE were responsible for the most successful performances of theatre in Asbury Park over the last three years. They have presented to us a cogent, comprehensive outline for success that we can confidently support. In our opinion, the stars have aligned at this moment, for L!VE, Asbury Park".
