(Cape May, NJ) -- Proving again that great theatre is all about the experience, Cape May Stage's 2012 season has it all. Artistic Director Roy Steinberg enthusiastically announces his plans for the Equity theatre's upcoming 2012 season along with some money-saving changes to the theatre's subscription packages. Consistently earning glowing reviews, along with accolades such as "outstanding," "remarkable," and "visceral" performances, and production values hailed as "truly beautiful," it is no wonder Cape May Stage continues to be recognized by Discover Jersey Arts as one of your "favorite" theaters in New Jersey.

The 2012 season will continue this tradition of excellence. Steinberg presents Cape May Stage's strongest programming yet, with multiple Tony award-winning Main Stage plays, regional premieres, a jam-packed Second Stage Series calendar full of celebrity appearances, and the unsurpassed production components patrons have grown to expect. With plenty of laughs, plus a few tears, audiences will want to see every show in this spectacular season.

Cape May Stage's 2012 theatre schedule features the following seven productions:

"Uncle Jacques' Symphony" written and performed by Dominic Hoffman
May 11 -- June 15, 2012

Uncles Jacques' Symphony, "begins with the introduction of Jacques Hoffman, a 'hip cat with fast hands on the music scene in 1950's Chicago.' A jazz drummer that had to wrench himself away from club dates and late nights in order to enter [the 9 to 5 world]. The change tore the music out of Jacques' soul [so] he built a symphony out of the people in his life . . .. This is a play about seven of these very diverse human beings who all shared the friendship of Jacques Hoffman."

"God of Carnage" by Yasmina Reza; translated by Christopher Hampton
June 20 -- August 3, 2012

Fast, furious and very funny, this winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play is a 90-minute thrill ride to the most dangerous place on Earth: parenthood. After their children are involved in a playground brawl, two sets of savvy parents meet to sip espresso and politely discuss the matter. When the veneer of refined sophistication quickly cracks and their evening spins into chaos, the gloves come off and arguments become tantrums in a hilariously uncivilized free-for-all. A comedy of manners...without the manners!

"The 39 Steps" Adapted by Patrick Barlow
August 8 -- September 7, 2012

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This 2-time Tony® and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters, an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

"Time Stands Still" by Donald Margulies
September 12 -- October 13, 2012

Sarah and James, a photojournalist and a foreign correspondent, try to find happiness in a world that seems to have gone crazy. Theirs is a partnership based on telling the toughest stories, and together, making a difference. But when their own story takes a sudden turn, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life. This moving new play prompts poignant questions about responsibility -- to ourselves, to our loved ones, to our community, and to our world.

"The Belle of Amherst" by William Luce
A play based on the life of Emily Dickinson
October 17- October 27, 2012

The Belle of Amherst delicately explores the life of America's greatest woman poet at various stages in her experience from the age of 15, when she was full of hope and success, until she died at 56, a virtual recluse with her door closed against society. Emily Dickinson's life is recreated with liberal excerpts from her poetry and by the method of her playing the roles of her father, teacher and friends. Don't miss what the Boston Globe says is, "one of the most singularly beautiful evenings ever spent in the theater."

"Poe, Times Two" by Greg Oliver Bodine
October 31- November 16, 2012

Twin tales of mystery, murder... and mortar!
A double-bill of short, one-man plays adapted from two classic stories of mystery and horror, "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Black Cat", by Edgar Allan Poe. One actor. Two classic horror stories! An evening of thrills and chills -- a must-see for Poe enthusiasts and fans of mystery and horror. A perfect treat for the Halloween season!
