Friday, October 4 - UCPAC presents The Rascals. (RAHWAY, NJ) -- Two legendary founders of The Rascals are together again. Felix Cavaliere and Gene Cornish cite the fans and love of their timeless songs as reasons for collaboration. You can see them as part of The Rascals 2024 People Got to Be Free tour on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Sunday, October 6 - Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Clint Black on Sunday. (RED BANK, NJ) -- Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Clint Black on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 7:30pm. The country music icon, one of the truest traditionalists in music over the last three decades, will celebrate the 35th anniversary of his debut album, Killin' Time, on tour in 2024. For the first time ever, he'll play the groundbreaking record live start to finish followed by more of his legendary hits.

Sunday, October 6 - Celebrating Jimmy Van Heusen at NJ Jazz Society's October Jersey Jazz LIVE!. "Darn That Dream", "Polka Dots and Moonbeams", "Call Me Irresponsible" -- Those are just three of the many popular songs composed by Jimmy Van Heusen. Lyrics for the first two were written by Johnny Burke and the third by Sammy Cahn.

Sunday, October 6 - Woodbridge Township presents an Afternoon with Kim Richey at Avenel PAC on Sunday. (AVENEL, NJ) -- Woodbridge Township presents an Afternoon with Kim Richey at Avenel PAC on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 3:00pm. Kim Richey came onto the music scene in the 1990s and entered her first recording contract at the age of 37 when she signed with Mercury Nashville. She spent the next few years promoting her albums and touring with the likes of Wynonna Judd.

2024 Hudson Jazz Festival Announces Complete Line-Up. (HUDSON, NY) -- Hudson Hall at the historic Hudson Opera House has announced the complete lineup of the 2024 Hudson Jazz Festival, which takes place October 4-6 during the stunning autumn season throughout the bucolic town of Hudson in Upstate New York, this year's Festival celebrates several firsts: a free outdoor block party launching the start of the Festival; a city-wide expansion to several different venues; and a shift from Winter to Fall to take advantage of the region's famous leaf-peeping season.

Dirty Deeds - The AC/DC Experience to Play 2 Nights at Newton Theatre. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Dirty Deeds - The AC/DC experience on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th - both nights at 8:00pm. The band celebrates the thunderous energy of the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson era delivering a power-packed performance that takes the audience on a journey through the story that is AC/DC.

Brain Damage to perform Pink Floyd's "The Wall" at The Landis Theater this weekend. (VINELAND, NJ) -- Brain Damage: A Tribute to Pink Floyd is coming to The Landis Theater this weekend to perform The Wall in its entirety on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, 2024. Both nights are at 8:00pm.

Saturday, October 5 - Billie Eilish to Perform Shows in Philly, Newark, and NYC. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Billie Eilish has a new studio album coming out and will be hitting the road starting in September 2024. Locally, she will be at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 5; the Prudential Center in Newark on Wednesday, October 9th; and has three shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City October 16-18, 2024.

Saturday, October 5 - Adelphi Orchestra to Kick Off 71st Season in October with "Heroic Echoes". (RIVER EDGE, NJ) -- The Adelphi Orchestra, Bergen County's premier professional orchestra, is delighted to announce the opening of its 71st concert season with "Heroic Echoes." Under the esteemed baton of Maestro Kyunghun Kim, this concert will celebrate some of the most inspiring works in the classical repertoire with a performance in New York City on October 5th and Fair Lawn, NJ on October 10th.

Saturday, October 5 - Plainfield Symphony Orchestra to Kick Off 105th Season with "Brahms and Mozart". (PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- On October 5, 2024, the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of its acclaimed music director Charles Prince, presents its season opening concert - "Brahms and Mozart" featuring two titans of the symphonic literature in works less frequently heard. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Sunday, October 6 - NJPAC presents Iconic bassist, singer, and composer Meshell Ndegeocello. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Iconic bassist, singer, and composer Meshell Ndegeocello makes her New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) debut on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 7:00pm. Her only performance in the New York City area this Fall, this one-night only concert is part of NJPAC's year-long Dodge Poetry initiative — an expanded partnership with the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation thatcelebrates poetry as a catalyst for communities to advance social change. Accompanied by some of today's top jazz artists, Meshell will present works off of her second Blue Note album No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin, a striking homage to the eminent writer and activist James Baldwin.

Tuesday, October 8 - WORD Bookstore presents A Conversation with Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 at White Eagle Hall. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- WORD Bookstore presents A Conversation with Deryck Whibley, the lead singer of Sum 41, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The event takes place at White Eagle Hall. All ticket purchasers will receive a copy of Deryck Whibley's autobiography "Walking Disaster". This candid memoir of music, fame, and endurance follows his rise from a punk kid to an international star. Doors are at 7:00pm, showtime is 8:00pm.

Tuesday, October 8 - Harmonium Choral presents Second Annual Beer Choir at Glenbrook Brewery. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Come sing with Harmonium Choral Society and our choral community on October 8, 2024 at Glenbrook Brewery (95 Morris Street) in Morristown. This is a national singing movement founded by composer Michael Engelhardt in Minnesota in 2015. If you like beer, and you like to sing, you’ll love Beer Choir. The event begins at 7:00pm.

An Interview with Dan Kurtz of The New Deal

Formed in 1999, Toronto, Canada based trio The New Deal, is a pioneer in jam-based electronic music. The group was founded by remaining members Dan Kurtz (bass) and Jamie Shields (keys), along with Darren Shearer (drums) who left tND in 2011. Since its inception, tND has remained committed to its improvisational roots and has served as a model for other jamtronica bands bridging the gap between multiple music genres as well as the border between Canada and the United States.

Pianist Anthony Pocetti grew up in Hamilton, NJ, studying piano, "doing sort of traditional piano lessons. I have an uncle who was always encouraging me to get into the jazz thing. He gave me the (Miles Davis) Kind of Blue CD, and he knew that the jazz pianist Jim Ridl was living in Hamilton."
