The HillBenders to Present "WhoGrass" at Grunin Center on April 28th

originally published: 04/21/2023

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Award-winning bluegrass meets classic rock in one unique, unforgettable show when The HillBenders present “WhoGrass” on Friday, April 28 at The Grunin Center for the Arts. “WhoGrass” is a chronological journey of The Who’s legendary catalog through the wood and wire of bluegrass instrumentation. Tickets are $35. Showtime is 8:00pm.

A follow-up to “TOMMY: A Bluegrass Opry,” The HillBenders’ critically acclaimed 2015 acoustic interpretation of The Who’s “Tommy,” “WhoGrass” gives the audience a career-spanning twist on one of rock and roll’s greatest bands. From the early hits all the way through The Who’s discography and even a peek into Pete Townshend’s solo career, the rolling banjo, intense dobro percussion, and thunderous vocals will have even the biggest Who fan pumping their fist and singing along!

For more than ten years, The HillBenders’ five original members have traveled coast to coast and around the world, spreading joy and excitement through music. From the deepest roots in bluegrass as the National Single Microphone Champions to the far left of progressive acoustic music, The HillBenders have played the most elite stages in both the festival circuit and the performing arts world. High-energy performances, a diverse catalog, and a slice of humor make way for what appears to be more of a brotherhood than a business – and each audience they play for becomes a part of that family.

Tickets are $35 and available for purchase online or by calling 732-255-0500. The Grunin Center is located on College Drive in Toms River, New Jersey on the campus of Ocean County College.

For more than 50 years, Ocean County College, a public two-year community college sponsored by Ocean County and the State of New Jersey, has provided area residents with the opportunity to benefit from higher education.
