(LAKE HIAWATHA, NJ) -- Pleasant Valley Productions, in collaboration with Lomotion Live, presents Apartment Swap, an original piece by Alli Hartley-Kong on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Parsippany Playhouse. Showtime is 8:00pm.
Apartment Swap is a witty, heartfelt comedy that follows Lily, a successful romance novelist who is preparing to marry her long-distance British fiancé while searching for a larger apartment through an apartment-swapping app. As three very different women, each at a crossroads after the end of a relationship, visit her tiny Washington, D.C. studio, their stories force Lily to confront her own fears about love, independence, marriage, and the future.
The play explores what women gain and lose in relationships across generations, ultimately celebrating the idea that love and equality can coexist when partners choose one another as true equals.
The cast includes Bradley Carrington, Gianna Esposito, Jodi Maloy, Missy Renwick, and Katherine Hope Stelma. The production is directed by Lauren Moran Mills.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. A Talkback will take place after the performance for the audience to offer comments on the piece and how it could be expanded. Parsippany Playhouse is located at 1130 Knoll Road in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey.
Pleasant Valley Productions (“PVP”) was formed in 2012 as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community theatre company. Based in West Essex County, they observed that their area of New Jersey had no theatre companies that focused on mentoring local youth in the technical and administrative, as well as the artistic aspects, of theatrical production. Keeping that in mind, their goals are to produce quality productions, mentor the development of young people in the technical, administrative, and artistic roles of a theatre and to develop new works and provide a platform for their expression.
A production succeeds best when anchored by skilled, dedicated technical crew and production staff. When someone shows interest and the enthusiasm to learn new skills, they make it their business to teach. This attitude has coalesced into their Protégé Program: They coach candidates to help them comprehend all aspects of the job at hand. Working on PVP productions hones their stagecraft skills. Their projects benefit and their mentees move on to projects of their own. It is immensely satisfying to see a student succeed and they are especially proud of this contribution to the theatre community.
Polished performances and stellar production values are the hallmarks of a PVP show. Their past productions have been happily well-received. As PVP grows they will be sourcing and developing new works, in addition to producing top-flight musicals and plays. They will continue to tap the well of local talent to produce superb theatre, develop first-rate theatre crew, discover new plays, and contribute to the New Jersey community theatre alliance.
