Trenton City Museum announces Mercer County Photography Call for Art

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Photographers aged 18 and up who live, work, or study in Mercer County, NJ, are encouraged to enter up to two photographs for consideration in the juried Mercer County Photography 2026 exhibition. The juror for 2026 is the award-winning photographer Aubrey J Kauffman of Ewing, New Jersey. Entry drop-off is Saturday, September 5, from 9:30am to 12:00pm at Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie, which is hosting the exhibition for the third time.

The exhibition prospectus, with entry forms, can be downloaded at ellarslie.org. Entry fee of $25, payable at drop-off, includes up to two pieces.

Mercer County Photography 2026 opens Friday, September 11. The reception and awards ceremony is Sunday, September 19, from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. On view through October 11, the biennial exhibition is made possible by funds from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Juror Aubrey J Kauffman is an award-winning photographer living and working in Ewing, New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from New Jersey City University and completed his Master of Fine Arts in visual arts at Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of Art and Design. His work has been exhibited throughout the region, with notable exhibitions at The Newark Museum, Rider University Art Gallery, The New Jersey State Museum, The Morris Museum, Seventh and 2nd Street Gallery in New York City, and The Biggs Museum of American Art. His photographs have also been shown at Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts. His work is included in several permanent collections, including the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, and Johnson & Johnson's Corporate Headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ. His art is also held in numerous private collections.

Trenton City Museum, housed in historic Ellarslie Mansion in the heart of Cadwalader Park, showcases contemporary works by area artists and ongoing and changing displays that explore Trenton's rich history as well as varied performances and family-friendly programming. It is open Thursdays through Saturdays, 12:00pm to 4:00pm, and Sundays, 1:00pm to 4:00pm. While there is no admission fee, donations to support the museum's programs are appreciated. (HAMILTON, NJ) -- Explore the fleeting nature of time through murals, daily meditative practices and newly commissioned sculptures in "Shantell Martin: Past, Present, Future," on view from September 20, 2026-July 23, 2028 at Grounds For Sculpture (GFS). The immersive, site-specific installation will feature new work indoors and sculptures in the park's gardens.
