
(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- After nearly two years of inspiring artists to capture Monmouth County's Revolutionary War history on canvas, the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee and Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners have announced the winners of the MonmouthNJ 250 Fine Art Competition.
The call for artists began in July 2024, inviting professional and non-professional artists from throughout Monmouth County to create original works depicting crucial moments from the Revolutionary War era. The competition drew outstanding submissions that celebrate the county's rich history through creativity and artistic expression. The winners in the Professional Category are:
* First Place: Jill Alexander of Wall for her depiction of the Showdown of Joshua Huddy and Colonel Tye.
* Second Place: Gina Cannone of Eatontown for her depiction of the Razing of Tinton Falls.
* Third Place: Jane Manco of Freehold for her portrait of a young soldier in the Continental Army during the Battle of Monmouth.
The winners in the Non-Professional Category are:

* First Place: Owen Forrester of Highlands for his depiction of a soldier during the Battle of Monmouth.
* Second Place: Anna Zimmer of Morganville for her depiction of the Capture of Britannia.
* Third Place: Elizabeth Jacobelli of Little Silver for her depiction of the Allen House Massacre.
“The response to the Fine Art Competition was outstanding, and the winning pieces beautifully showcase the talent of our local artists while bringing our Revolutionary War history to life,” said MonmouthNJ 250 Committee Co-Chair and Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “As we continue commemorating America's 250th birthday, it's inspiring to see so many residents engage with our shared history in such a meaningful and creative way. We congratulate all the winners and thank every artist who helped make this competition a success.”
All submitted artwork, including the winning pieces, is currently on display at the Gallery at the Thompson Park Creative Arts Center and will remain on exhibit through November 14, 2026.

The celebration of America's 250th birthday continues throughout the year with additional educational programs, exhibits, concerts and community events highlighting Monmouth County's unique role in the nation's founding.
The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners established the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee in 2023 to prepare for the celebration of America's 250th anniversary. Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone and County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon serve as Co-Chairs of the Committee.
