Albert Music Hall's Bluegrass Fest on Saturday Celebrates Music and the Community Behind It

(WARETOWN, NJ) -- Bluegrass is more than a style of music. It's a tradition built on storytelling, shared songs, and musicians gathering to play together. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, Albert Music Hall will celebrate that heritage during its annual Bluegrass Fest, an evening that combines educational sessions, opportunities to experience the Hall's renowned Pickin' Shed, and three hours of live performances.

Designed for Bluegrass enthusiasts, musicians, and newcomers alike, the event offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the music while experiencing the welcoming community that has made Albert Music Hall a destination for traditional American music for more than five decades.

Doors open at 4:00pm, with the activities beginning at 4:30pm. The evening opens with “Building Energy into Your Performance”, a workshop led by members of The Coal-Fired Ramblers. Drawing on their experience performing at festivals and concert venues throughout the region, the band will discuss the techniques that help transform a good musical performance into a memorable one.

At 5:00pm, visitors are invited to the Pickin' Shed for “Intro to the Pickin' Shed”, an informal introduction to the traditions and etiquette of jam sessions. Whether participants hope to join a jam themselves or simply want to better understand the jamming culture, the session provides a welcoming opportunity to ask questions and learn about one of Albert Music Hall's most cherished traditions.

The evening's live music opens at 6:00pm with a special one-hour presentation by The Last Whippoorwill. Combining live performance with storytelling, the group will trace the history and evolution of Bluegrass music through songs, commentary, and historical context.

The evening continues with performances by Mary Kate Brennan, The Coal-Fired Ramblers, and Blue Plate Special.

Throughout the event, the Pickin' Shed will remain open for informal jam sessions. Musicians of all skill levels are encouraged to bring an instrument and join in. Visitors can also enjoy listening to the music, which often spills onto the porch on warm summer evenings. For many, these spontaneous gatherings are among the most distinctive experiences Albert Music Hall has to offer.

Whether participating in all or part of the event, admission is $6 for adults and $1 for children under 12. The venue is cash only. Food, desserts, beverages, and gift shop items will be available throughout the evening. Free parking, wheelchair-accessible seating, and a 50/50 drawing are also part of the event.

Albert Music Hall is operated by the Pinelands Cultural & Historical Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the music and culture of the New Jersey Pinelands. Bluegrass Fest reflects that mission by offering visitors not only outstanding performances, but an opportunity to experience the traditions, fellowship, and community that have kept this music thriving for generations.

Albert Music Hall is located at 131 Wells Mills Road in Waretown, New Jersey.
