Lacey Library presents "Little by Little" - Exhibit featuring art by Suzanne Pasqualicchio

originally published: 05/03/2026

(FORKED RIVER, NJ) -- The Lacey Branch of the Ocean County Library will feature pieces by local artist Suzanne Pasqualicchio's exhibit Little by Little in the branch's meeting room throughout the month of May.

“All my paintings are, in concept, essentially self-portraits,” says Pasqualicchio. “The work is a record of my existence and relationships in life. It involves personal discovery as well as the quieting of a nostalgic desire to hold on. These themes span multiple phases – periods of growth, loss, recovery through which the introspective becomes shared.” She believes viewing the experiences of another person through artistic expression closes the gap between our differences and brings us closer to our shared humanity.

Pasqualicchio’s body of work consists of oil and/or acrylic on canvas or panel. Washes of color are built up in layers and stamping techniques are used in the sketching phase. She uses photographs in combination with other references as a starting point, including cards, fabric remnants, relics, images from nature and books. The work is meditative, exploring the melancholy and the blissful. Pasqualicchio develops resilience through painting, giving her the courage and strength to face adversity.

For Pasqualicchio, art making “uniquely aligns the emotional and the visual with the intention of processing. Ultimately, the fragments of past events are meshed with current perspective and are re-experienced. Nostalgia morphs into better understanding and balance.

This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. The exhibit will be available to view to the public during the branch’s regular operating hours. For more information, call 609-693-8566, or stop by the branch at 10 East Lacey Road, Forked River.
