(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Celebrate the grind, the gossip, and the glass ceilings this Secretary's Day week at The ShowRoom in Asbury Park with WORKING GIRLS, a special three-film series spotlighting the humor, frustration, and resilience of women in the workplace. Running from April 19-25, 2026, the series brings together a trio of sharp, character-driven films led by standout ensemble casts.

Kicking things off on Sunday, April 19th at 3:00pm is the underseen indie gem Clockwatchers (1997), starring Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow, Toni Collette, and Alanna Ubach. The film follows four temp workers navigating the monotony and paranoia of office life, where petty theft and workplace suspicion threaten their fragile camaraderie.

On Wednesday, April 22nd at 7:30pm - celebrated as Secretary's Day - experience the provocative and unconventional Secretary (2002), starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader. This daring dark romance explores the evolving relationship between a young secretary and her demanding boss, turning office dynamics into something far more intimate—and unexpected.

Closing out the series on Saturday, April 25th at 7:30pm is the beloved workplace comedy Nine to Five (1980), featuring an iconic trio: Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton. When three overworked women decide they've had enough of their egotistical boss, they band together for a hilarious and empowering act of rebellion.

Tickets for each screening are $17 and are available now at showroomcinemas.com. The ShowRoom is located at 707 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Join them for a week of sharp wit, unforgettable performances, and a celebration of women clocking in—and taking control.

The ShowRoom Cinema opened in Asbury Park, NJ, in April, 2009, as a single-screen, 50 seat movie theater, with a goal of bringing provocative and relevant independent movies and engaging special events to the city’s budding downtown. In 2012 the theater evolved into a 3-screen, independent cinema and became the leading entertainment destination in Asbury Park’s eclectic, art-infused downtown shopping district.

Through its eleven year run, The ShowRoom brought an important selection of independent, first-run films — including critically-acclaimed domestic and foreign features, documentaries, festival winners and shorts — to the Jersey Shore. It also hosted a variety of special one night only screenings, live performances and community-driven special events. The theater closed in 2020, but new owners Daria Parr and family are excited to welcome The ShowRoom back to Asbury Park. As the last year and a half has shown, the simple pleasure of seeing a new release on a big screen with a roomful of fellow film fans is an experience many of us didn’t realize we would miss until it was gone.

The ShowRoom will continue to deliver the same high quality film selection and impeccable customer service that the theater has become known for while working toward the big picture goal: restoring some of what was lost during the pandemic by inviting our cherished guests to share the energy and fun of going to the movies again.
