The ShowRoom and Asbury Park Movie Club present Remembering Reiner Film Series

originally published: 01/26/2026

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom and Asbury Park Movie Club present Remembering Reiner, a three-film retrospective celebrating the remarkable, genre-spanning career of filmmaker Rob Reiner, screening Wednesdays throughout February. The series includes screenings of This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, and The Princess Bride.

The loss of Rob Reiner this past year marked a profound moment for film lovers everywhere. Few directors moved as effortlessly between satire, romance, and adventure, leaving behind a body of work that continues to shape popular culture and inspire filmmakers and audiences alike. His films remain endlessly quotable, emotionally resonant, and deeply woven into the fabric of American cinema. Remembering Reiner offers audiences the chance to revisit three essential works that reflect the breadth and heart of his legacy.

Tickets are $15 and are available now at showroomcinemas.com. The ShowRoom is located at 707 Cookman Ave in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 7:00pm - This Is Spinal Tap. A groundbreaking mockumentary that shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes and undersold concert dates, along with the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real. The film stars Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, June Chadwick, Michael McKean, and Rob Reiner.

Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 7:00pm - When Harry Met Sally. A smart, funny, and deeply human romantic comedy that traces a friendship across years of chance encounters, posing the timeless question of whether men and women can ever truly just be friends. The film stars Billy Crystal, Bruno Kirby, Carrie Fisher, Meg Ryan, and Steven Ford.

Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 7:00pm - The Princess Bride. A beloved fairy-tale adventure filled with romance, swordplay, unforgettable characters, and true love, blending humor and heart into one of the most cherished films of all time. The beautiful Princess Buttercup and the dashing Westley must overcome staggering odds to find happiness amid six-fingered swordsmen, murderous princes, Sicilians and rodents of unusual size. But even death can’t stop these true lovebirds from triumphing.

Remembering Reiner is both a tribute and a celebration — an opportunity to experience these enduring classics on the big screen and honor a filmmaker whose work continues to delight, move, and endure.

The ShowRoom Cinema opened in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in April, 2009, as a single-screen, 50 seat movie theater, with a goal of bringing provocative and relevant independent movies and engaging special events to the city’s budding downtown. In 2012 the theater evolved into a 3-screen, independent cinema and became the leading entertainment destination in Asbury Park’s eclectic, art-infused downtown shopping district.

Through its eleven year run, The ShowRoom brought an important selection of independent, first-run films — including critically-acclaimed domestic and foreign features, documentaries, festival winners and shorts — to the Jersey Shore. It also hosted a variety of special one night only screenings, live performances and community-driven special events. The theater closed in 2020, but new owners Daria Parr and family are excited to welcome The ShowRoom back to Asbury Park. As the pandemic showed, the simple pleasure of seeing a new release on a big screen with a roomful of fellow film fans is an experience many of us didn’t realize we would miss until it was gone.

The ShowRoom will continue to deliver the same high quality film selection and impeccable customer service that the theater has become known for while working toward the big picture goal: restoring some of what was lost during the pandemic by inviting our cherished guests to share the energy and fun of going to the movies again.
