(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions & Skyline Arts presents Urinetown, the Musical from November 22-23, 2025. Get ready to laugh but also... sort of question everything.
Urinetown the Musical paints a darkly comedic picture of a future where a severe water shortage has led to a corporate monopoly on public amenities—you literally have to pay to pee! When the downtrodden citizens can no longer afford to relieve themselves, a hero rises to challenge the corrupt political system, sparking a hilarious and surprisingly thoughtful revolution.
It's a sharp satire that pokes fun at capitalism, bureaucracy, and even musical theater itself, making for a truly unique and entertaining experience!
Performances take place Saturday, November 22 at 2:00pm & 7:00pm and Sunday, November 23 at 1:00pm & 5:30pm. Tickes are available for purchase online. Art House Productions is located at 345 Marin Boulevard in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards and two Obie Awards, Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire which provides a fresh perspective on one of America's greatest art forms.
The Creative Team includes Director: Bri Fogleman; Assistant Director/Choreographer: Hannah Balagot; Stage Manager: Macy Robinson and Emily Stys; Music Director: Meghan LaFlam; and Costume & Prop Designer: Cory Seminowicz.
Art House Productions was founded in late September 2001 by Christine Goodman, a community leader and professional performing artist. Art House's inaugural event, held shortly after September 11th, sprung from the desire to connect a devastated community through art and dialogue. Since then, Art House has established itself as a pioneer of artistic and cultural programming in Jersey City producing new theatrical work, dance, comedy, and visual arts programming that is innovative, fresh, and multi-disciplinary. Art House Productions has established itself as a cultural landmark in Jersey City, attaining non-for-profit status in 2007 and presenting work at a professional level—but the spirit of community that led to the organization’s inception still guides its artistic programming.
In 2007, Art House became incorporated and was granted nonprofit 501(c)(3) status. In late 2007, the organization was presented with the Key to the City and an official Proclamation for its outstanding contributions to the City of Jersey City, NJ. In 2017, Meredith Burns was selected to serve as the organization's second Executive Director.
In 2021, Art House Productions merged with Jersey Art Exchange (JAX) to increase and enhance existing education programs.
In 2023, Art House Productions moved into a permanent performing and visual arts center at The Hendrix in Jersey City, NJ steps from the Grove St. PATH Station. The development comes courtesy of SILVERMAN, The Albanese Group, and Liberty Harbor. The state-of-the-art facility includes a gallery, black box theater with dressing rooms, and administrative offices.
