(EDISON, NJ) -- People Helping People presents the 2025 Festival of Short Plays & Visual Arts on Saturday, December 6th at Middlesex College in Edison. The festival includes short plays and a Visual Arts Exhibit in the lobby - both featuring works by New Jersey artists.
Prepare to be transported by a powerful and compelling collection of short plays written by New Jersey’s own playwrights—each offering its own world of humor, drama, and revelation: Etched Sketches by Doriane Swain; Her Dream, His Nightmare by Nakia McCall; Fire & Desire by Andrea Clinton; Heckle-isha & Jeckyl Nae Nae by Andrea Clinton; Hold, Please by Melissa Schaffer; Plain Jane by Andrea Clinton; and Hobo Pete by Andrea Clinton.
Their talented actors bring these stories to life with such passion and authenticity, you realize—you know these characters. Whether you love drama, comedy, or a mix of both, this showcase promises moments that will make you think, laugh, and feel deeply.
Bring your friends and family to experience the thrill of New Jersey’s theatre scene, and don’t forget to explore the Visual Arts Exhibit in the lobby, featuring stunning original works for sale by New Jersey’s own visual artists.
Tickets are $25 for the matinee and $30 for the evening performance. Tickets are available for purchase online. The festival takes place in the West Hall / Parkview Room at Middlesex College (2600 Woodbridge Avenue) in Edison, New Jersey.
The festival is also hosting a food drive on Saturday, December 6th from 1:30pm to 7:00pm to benefit REPLENISH, the official county food band of Middlesex County. Please join the food drive by bringing any non-perishable items you can. Together we can make a difference.
Your attendance supports local artists and your donation supports our neighbors.
The Visual Arts Exhibit opens at noon with an opportunity to meet the artists. At 2:00pm, there are matinee performances of the plays. A panel discussion takes place at 4:30pm. And the evening performances of plays begins at 7:00pm.
The mission of People Helping People is to help those in need become independent and self-sufficient. They do this via their referral system where they refer to state and other agencies that assist those in need; they help with Job Development and Job Placement; and, due to grants and donations, they hire and refer those in the arts and media, both technical, administrative and creatives to outside sources seeking personnel in Arts & Entertainment.
They produce plays, films, documentaries, a podcast, books and the arts to bring awareness and food for thought regarding social justice issues that plague our communities. All that they do is to contribute toward helping others become independent and self-sufficient.
