Holmdel Theatre Company presents "Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson - Apt. 2b"
 

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Holmdel Theatre Company presents Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson - Apt. 2b across three weekends from November 7-23, 2025. This is the company's first full Main-Stage production since April 2024! It's a sharp, sassy, modern twist on a classic mystery by Kate Hamill.

Monmouth University to host advance screening and listening session for Bruce Springsteen's "Nebraska '82: Expanded Edition"
 

(WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music will hold a unique opportunity to attend an advance screening and listening session for Nebraska '82: Expanded Edition, featuring previously unreleased material. The event takes place Wednesday, October 15, 2025 in Monmouth University's Pollak Theatre. The event begins at 7:00pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

Grunin Center for the Arts presents The Ocean Blue on Saturday
 

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College is excited to present a concert by The Ocean Blue on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 7:30pm. Getting their start as teenagers in the late 1980s in Hershey, PA, The Ocean Blue released their self-titled debut on the famed Sire Records, the same label that launched many of their heroes in the U.S., including the Smiths, the Pretenders, the English Beat, and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Teaneck International Film Festival presents "Lilly" as Closing Film
 

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The Teaneck International Film Festival's 20th year program will close with the feature film, Lilly, on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 7:30pm, at Temple Emeth (1666 Windsor Rd) in Teaneck. The film, based on the true story of Lilly Ledbetter, whose fight for equal rights in the workplace led to state and national legislation, is sponsored by YWCA of Northern New Jersey, Senator Loretta Weinberg, National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section, Shahanaz Arjumand, and WOW (Women of Wisdom).

I don't know how apocryphal it was, but I used to hear the informal designations all the time. Newark, I was told, was the place to get a kilo. Hence its nickname: Brick City. If you had a beef, you might take it up in infamous Illtown, properly known as East Orange. But people didn't fight in Jersey City. This town was considered gang truce territory, and this was the secret meaning behind our not-so-secret handle. Our nickname was Chilltown. We even had a Chilltown Magazine. I wrote for it.

NJCH Awards 2025 Stanley N. Katz Prize for Excellence in Public Humanities to "Honoring Cudjo Banquante!" Project
 

(CAMDEN, NJ) -- The New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) has announced the recipient of the 2025 Stanley N. Katz Prize for Excellence in Public Humanities, as well as three honorable mentions. The top prize was awarded to Honoring Cudjo Banquante!, a weeklong slate of 20 events that brought to life the little-known story of Cudjo Banquante. The effort was produced by a cross-organizational team administered by the Newark History Society to share a story that embodies both the brutality of slavery and the resilience of the human spirit within the context of America's 250th anniversary.
