(RAHWAY, NJ) -- Hamilton Stage at Union County Performing Arts Center hosts Summer 2025 Visual Arts Camp with Bernard Jackson from Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29, 2025. The camp is for children ages 8-12.

Each child will receive a learning kit consisting of a pallet knife, easel, apron, and more to build their own scenic board. Campers will come away with an understanding of how to use contrast, color, and texture to bring their vision to life. Summer 2025 Visual Arts Camp culminates in an art show where campers will have the opportunity to sell their work.

Snacks and water will be provided daily for campers. Summer 2025 Visual Arts Camp is a partnership between Bernard Jackson and UCPAC.

The camp runs 10:00am to noon each day. The cost is $100 (includes supplies).  Click here to register. Hamilton Stage is located at 360 Hamilton Street in Rahway, New Jersey.

West Orange resident Bernard Jackson is a painter and scenic artist. His first big break came when he was hired by director Spike Lee to work on “Malcolm X” who advocated for him to be accepted into Local 829 (the United Scenic Artists union). Jackson has recently worked on hit television programs including “Saturday Night Live,” “The View,” “Tamron Hall,” Hulu’s “Wu Tang: The American Saga, and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

“I encourage my young kids... I want to encourage other young people to go ahead and take a leap of faith…You know, we need these kids to pursue their dreams and their passions, and we need our parents to support them as they pursue those dreams... When they see me, as a person of color, and I’m working on a set, I can talk to them and it makes it real to them. It gives them a reality that they can touch. They can say I can do that if he did it,” Jackson shared on OPEN. Watch the whole interview below:
