(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse announced that they recently received a $9,000 grant from The Summit Foundation. This incredible support will allow them to purchase new digital microphones for their actors, enhancing the audio quality and overall experience for their audiences.
In an email to subscribers, the Board of The Summit Playhouse extended their heartfelt gratitude to The Summit Foundation for their continued generosity and belief in the theater company's work. "Thank you for helping us continue to provide high-quality live theater to Summit and surrounding communities!" they wrote.
The Summit Foundation fosters philanthropy and strengthens resources to address local needs and enhance lives in the Summit, New Jersey area. In the past 10 years, it has invested over $10 million in the community through grants, scholarships, donor-advised distributions, and special purpose funds.
The Summit Playhouse, a non-profit community theatre, was founded in 1918 as a World War I relief organization. Since then, they have mounted over 300 productions, and are one of the oldest continuously operating community theatres in the United States. They produce three Main Stage shows a year, with performances in November, February/March, and April/May. Kaleidoscope Youth Theatre presents a Junior production in December and July, a full-length musical every summer, and various workshops throughout the year.
Their community service includes a benefit performance of each of their regular plays, theater awards for Dramatic Arts students, and Summit community collaborations. Their Kaleidoscope productions have traveled to various outreach locations, including special education schools, nursing homes, and children's hospitals, to share productions with those who cannot travel to see them.
