Pete Rodríguez to Perform Shows in Princeton and Red Bank

originally published: 06/13/2025

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Triumph Brewery and Restaurant presents two back-to-back nights of dynamic original music featuring acclaimed jazz trumpeter and composer Pete Rodríguez.

On Friday, June 27, 2025, the Pete Rodríguez Quartet will perform two intimate sets at Triumph’s Princeton location from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. For the Princeton performance, the powerhouse band will feature Rodríguez on trumpet, Silvano Monasterios on piano, Raul Reyes on bass, and Koleby Royston on drums.

The following evening, Saturday, June 28, Triumph’s Red Bank venue will showcase the fiery energy of the Pete Rodríguez Latin Jazz Sextet with two electrifying sets from 8:30pm to 11:30pm. In Red Bank, Rodriguez will be joined by Peter Brainin (tenor), Silvano Monasterios (piano), Raul Reyes (bass), Koleby Royston (drums), and Robert Quintero (Latin percussion).

Rodríguez’s most recent album, I’m Pete Rodríguez, Vol. 1, was named one of the Best of 2024 by both the New York City Jazz Record and the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular in Puerto Rico.

Rodríguez, son of renowned salsero Pete “El Conde” Rodríguez and godson of Fania Records bandleader Johnny Pacheco, has been featured in the New York Times, Downbeat, JazzTimes, Jazziz, Latin Jazz Network and more.

As a bandleader, Rodriguez has drawn on his diverse upbringing—including growing up surrounded by the greatest names in Latin music, living through the birth of Hip Hop in the Bronx, and becoming an accomplished classical trumpeter during his adolescence in Puerto Rico—to create his own brand of dynamic Latin and straight-ahead jazz.  The result is music that has been described as “not only instrumentally ferocious, but texturally rich and at times, profoundly intimate.” (Downbeat).

His music demonstrates his aptitude for modern Afro-Cuban jazz and hard-driving post-bop jazz, as much as melodic Latin variants and R&B-tinged grooves. Whether you're drawn to the soulful intimacy of the quartet or the fiery energy of the sextet, Pete Rodríguez’s music will not disappoint!
