(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom Cinema is turning up the volume this summer with ENCORE: Rock Cinema Returns!, a series of must-see music films that combine incredible sound with captivating visuals. Screenings include The Who's Tommy; Pink Floyd: The Wall; Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains; and Streets of Fire.
All screenings begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 for each screening and are available now at showroomcinemas.com. The ShowRoom Cinema is located at 707 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
The series kicks off on Saturday, June 21st, coinciding with the vibrant Asbury Underground music crawl. From 12:00pm to 5:30pm, The ShowRoom will feature live performances by local bands, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special 7:30pm screening of The Who’s Tommy—the iconic rock opera about a deaf, dumb, and blind boy who unexpectedly becomes a messiah, starring Roger Daltrey, Ann-Margret, Elton John, and Tina Turner.
The musical journey continues on Friday, July 11th with Pink Floyd: The Wall, a powerful and visually stunning exploration of isolation, fame, and the impact of war, set to the groundbreaking soundtrack of one of rock’s most influential concept albums.
On Friday, July 18th, don't miss Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains, the story of a young girl punk band that ignites a feminist movement during a chaotic rock tour. Featuring early performances by Diane Lane and Laura Dern alongside real punk musicians from The Clash, The Tubes, and The Sex Pistols, this cult classic bursts with youthful rebellion and raw energy.
The series concludes on Wednesday, July 23rd with a special co-presentation by the Asbury Park Movie Club: Streets of Fire, a stylish rock and roll fable about a mercenary hired to rescue a kidnapped singer in a neon-drenched and dangerous city. Starring Michael Paré, Diane Lane, Willem Dafoe, and Rick Moranis, this film blends intense action with a driving soundtrack.

The ShowRoom Cinema opened in Asbury Park, NJ, in April, 2009, as a single-screen, 50 seat movie theater, with a goal of bringing provocative and relevant independent movies and engaging special events to the city’s budding downtown. In 2012 the theater evolved into a 3-screen, independent cinema and became the leading entertainment destination in Asbury Park’s eclectic, art-infused downtown shopping district.
Through its eleven year run, The ShowRoom brought an important selection of independent, first-run films — including critically-acclaimed domestic and foreign features, documentaries, festival winners and shorts — to the Jersey Shore. It also hosted a variety of special one night only screenings, live performances and community-driven special events. The theater closed in 2020, but new owners Daria Parr and family are excited to welcome The ShowRoom back to Asbury Park. As the last year and a half has shown, the simple pleasure of seeing a new release on a big screen with a roomful of fellow film fans is an experience many of us didn’t realize we would miss until it was gone.
The ShowRoom will continue to deliver the same high quality film selection and impeccable customer service that the theater has become known for while working toward the big picture goal: restoring some of what was lost during the pandemic by inviting our cherished guests to share the energy and fun of going to the movies again.
