originally published: 03/25/2025

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present a solo recital by RVCC faculty pianist Abraham Alinea on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 3:00pm.  The performance, which is open to the public, will be held in Welpe Theatre at the College's Branchburg campus.

Professor Alinea’s program will include Couperin's Les barricades mystérieuses, Chopin's Ballade #4 in F minor, and Schubert's Piano Sonata in B flat Major, D. 960.

Alinea made his orchestral debut at Rutgers University’s Nicholas Hall  performing Rachmaninoff’s Third Concerto with the Rutgers Sinfonia under the baton of Kynan Johns. Additionally, he was one of the featured pianists in the 2017 Rutgers University Annual Piano Gala concert at Carnegie Hall. Alinea is an alumnus of Brevard Music Center and Orford Musique, and he has appeared at both as soloist.

A laureate in the inaugural WPTA International Piano Competition in Finland, he was invited to study with Elena Nesterenko in Germany. He also has performed for such renowned artists as Marc-André Hamelin, Robert McDonald, Anton Nel, John O’Conor, Sofya Gulyak, Stewart Goodyear, Alan Feinberg, and Eric Zuber.

General admission tickets cost $12 each; admission is $8 for seniors. Students will be admitted free of charge. For advance ticket reservations, contact the RVCC Theatre Box Office at 908-725-3420. For additional information, email John Sichel at john.sichel@raritanval.edu.

In 2023 he was invited by the Toronto-based Cantabile Chamber Singers as the featured accompanist for their 15th season finale. Alinea also composes in his leisure and has premiered his works with the Rutgers Undergraduate New Music Ensemble.
