The ShowRoom Presents NEUROTIC NOVEMBER – A Film Series Playing On Pre-Holiday Anxieties

originally published: 10/28/2024

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom invites audiences to dive into the hilariously uncomfortable world of NEUROTIC NOVEMBER. This film series is perfectly timed to tap into our end-of-the-year anxieties. Blending the stress of the election season and the looming chaos of the holidays, these films capture our most relatable tensions! It's more fun than it sounds, they promise! Screenings take place on the three Thursdays leading up to Thanksgiving at 7:30pm, with tickets priced at $15. Tickets are available at showroomcinemas.com.

The Films:

11/7 - Annie Hall (1977): Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Woody Allen, the king of neurosis, brings us this quintessential romantic comedy about a man obsessively questioning love, life, and everything in between. Annie Hall is a perfect study of the overthinking that can plague relationships and identities, earning its place as a classic portrait of modern anxieties. Starring: Carol Kane, Diane Keaton, Paul Simon, Tony Roberts, Woody Allen

11/14 - Diary of a Mad Housewife (1970): Frank Perry’s darkly comedic drama dives deep into the chaotic inner life of a woman pushed to the brink by her demanding husband and the crushing pressures of domestic life. Based on the Sue Kaufman novel, this satirical portrait of a housewife’s unraveling mind will resonate with anyone who has felt suffocated by societal expectations. Starring: Carrie Snodgress, Frank Langella, Frannie Michel, Lorraine Cullen, Richard Benjamin

11/21 - Desperate Living (1977): John Waters serves up an outlandish and surreal vision of madness in this cult classic. Filled with grotesque humor and unapologetic weirdness, Desperate Living is a neurotic fever dream that twists social norms into a wildly comedic, utterly chaotic reflection of our collective fears and desires. Starring: Edith Massey, Jean Hill, Liz Renay, Mink Stole, Susan Lowe
