Witness Music History with "One Night In Memphis" at The Grunin Center

originally published: 10/21/2024

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Celebrate a legendary moment in rock and roll history when "One Night in Memphis" comes to the Grunin Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 26, 2024. A limited number of tickets are still available. Showtime is 8:00pm.

"One Night in Memphis" is a rocking concert tribute to legendary Sun Records recording artists Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley, featuring over 90 minutes of rockabilly, country, gospel, and pure 1950s rock and roll music performed live and backed by an authentic and energetic rockabilly backup band. Created and directed by John Mueller from the highly acclaimed show, “Winter Dance Party,” this show has met with the same accolades, sell-out shows, and audience standing ovations.

On December 4, 1956, music history was made when Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash came together in an impromptu jam session at Sun Records’ studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Cowboy Jack Clement had the foresight to record the session that day, capturing a unique moment in rock and roll history that would go on to inspire countless musicians and represent a remarkable convergence of four of the most influential artists in early rock and roll.

Be a witness to a rock and roll royalty jam session with the music and talent that has stood the test of time. Enjoy true American music featuring the hits “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Whole Lotta Shaking Going On,” “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Hound Dog,” and many, many more – with acclaimed national talent, all performed live without tracks and guaranteed to get any audience rocking and rolling!

Tickets range from $44-$49 and available for purchase or by calling the Grunin Center Box Office at 732-255-0500. The Grunin Center for the Arts is located at 1 College Drive in Toms River, New Jersey.
