Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging cancers, with a five-year survival rate recently increased to 13%, up from 7% a decade ago. However, the lack of a standard early detection test and limited treatment options underscore the urgent need for increased funding, research, and awareness.

The event is produced and co-chaired by Jared Miller, Founder and CEO of That Funny Agency and Jon Bodnar, GM, of the Trenton Thunder Minor League Baseball Team. Co-Chairs also include Bruce Platt and Ryan Gordon, who each have deep ties with PanCAN and Andy Schram Foundation, respectively. Each co-chair has had a beloved person die from Pancreatic Cancer.

Pia Miller, Jared’s mother, was a founder of the PanCAN's Philadelphia PurpleStride walk. The Philly affiliate Volunteer of the Year Award is named for her.

The Andy Schram Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity, provides financial and non financial resources for families and individuals impacted by pancreatic cancer. Funds provided through the foundation are used for initiatives such as covering medical expenses, providing transportation, providing video interviews for loved ones, and much more. Their goal is to remove burdens impacting individuals so they can focus on their fight to becoming survivors.

The mission of The Grand Slam We Care Foundation is to provide educational, recreational, and financial support to charitable organizations assisting youth in the greater Trenton, NJ area. With the inception of the Trenton Thunder in 1994 came a commitment from the organization to be part of the community in which it was established. The Thunder have lived up to this commitment with the Grand Slam We Care Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity, which at the conclusion of the 2023 season, had donated over $9.5 million worth of goods, services, and monetary donations, through a variety of community programs.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) leads the way in accelerating critical progress for pancreatic cancer patients. PanCAN takes bold action by funding life-saving research, providing personalized patient services and creating a community of supporters and volunteers who will stop at nothing to create a world in which all pancreatic cancer patients will thrive. For 18 years in a row, PanCAN has earned a Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator – the highest rating an organization can receive. This rating designates PanCAN as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating strong financial health, ongoing accountability and transparency.
