The Makin Waves Song of the Week is “I Said” from Asbury Park punk outfit Lost in Society’s new four-song EP, “The Distribution of Comfort.”
Time flies when you’re having as much fun as the Asbury Park-based punk outfit Lost in Society have had during their 20 years together.
This can be evidenced by the fresh-sounding tracks on their new four-song EP, “Distribution of Comfort,” including “I Said,” the Makin Waves Song of the Week.
As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “I Said” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Aug. 16, on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.
While Lost in Society vocalist-guitarist Zach Moyle and bassist Nick Ruroede have been collaborating 20 years, “Distribution of Comfort” marks the first band recordings by new drummer Gee Lima and guitarist Tom Blaney.
“This was our first time recording since 2018, and it was essentially a whole new band,” Nick said. “Tom and Gee crushed it in the studio. After having known both of them for a while, it was really cool to be able to record music with them.”
Nick and Zach said they also enjoyed working again in Asbury’s Little Eden Studios with Bouncing Souls guitarist Pete Steinkopf.
Pete also produced and engineered “Modern Illusions,” Lost in Society’s 2016 LP.
“It was great getting to record with Pete from the Bouncing Souls again,” Nick said. “He's such a great producer, and we're super comfortable with him at this point, so it was more like hanging out."
Like with their 2022 LP “Life During Quarantine,” Lost in Society teamed with the California indie Wiretap Records to release “Distribution of Comfort.”
The EP features two singles, the Pavement-inspired “Wake Up” and “Pascal and Sabine,” named after one of Asbury’s finest restaurants.
