(MAHWAH, NJ) -- The 12th annual Les Paul Concert at Ramapo College will feature a performance by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Amythyst Kiah and her band on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 8:00pm in the Sharp Theater.

The concert, generously supported with funding from the NJ State Council on the Arts and the Schomburg Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program, is a collaboration between the College’s esteemed music department and Ramapo’s Arch Performances.

With a 2019 Grammy Award nomination for Best American Roots Song and a Song of the Year win at the 2019 Folk Alliance International Awards, Kiah — who Rolling Stone calls “one of Americana’s great up-and-coming secrets'' — has an unforgettable voice that’s both unfettered and exquisitely controlled. In her solo work, she expands on the uncompromising artistry she revealed as part of Our Native Daughters, an all-women-of-color supergroup.

Tickets: Adults: $40, Children Under 17: $20, RCNJ Students: $8*, RCNJ Faculty/Staff: $20*, Retired Employees of Ramapo College: $20* Tickets are available for purchase online. Sharp Theater is located at 505 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah, New Jersey.

In addition to the concert, the School of Contemporary Arts is thrilled to present Les Paul “From Start to Finish” on Saturday, February 10 at 5:30pm in the Adler Theater. Presented by longtime friend and Mahwah mayor, Jim Wysocki, the event is a chance to hear great stories and see Les Paul’s personal guitars, studio equipment, and additional memorabilia. The ticket cost is $150 and includes Les Paul “From Start to Finish,” reception, and a ticket to the Les Paul Concert. Proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the Les Paul Recording Studio at Ramapo College which supports over 100 music students each year. Tickets are available here.

Arch Performances is a community resource generously funded by the New Jersey State Council of the Arts, Mid Atlantic Arts, and Impact 100 Garden State.  Events are open to the public with discounts for children 17 and under, and they offer easy access and free parking. Eddie

Eddie Skuller to pay tribute to Tom Waits in Hoboken

(HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Looking for the heart of Saturday night? Find it in Hoboken on Saturday, May 10, 2025 when the 503 Social Club presents singer/songwriter Eddie Skuller's tribute to the "Ballads of Tom Waits." Skuller explores the dark, poetic world of Tom Waits with diverse selections from his extensive catalog. Although Skuller's amber-saturated vocals contrast with Wait's raucous gravel-like voice, there is a connection channeled through the music's emotional depth and lyrical intensity. Skuller can forge a deep, powerful bond with his audience, which enhances the tragic expression at the core of Waits' music.

On Banjo

'On Banjo' with Alison Brown

There was a time when I would have told you that my knowledge of the banjo was limited to whom I considered one of the most famous banjo players, who also happens to be my favorite musical amphibian, Mr. Kermit The Frog. "The Rainbow Connection" a la "The Muppet Movie" as performed by the little green dude, the world's greatest producer, was my first introduction to the string instrument and will forever hold a special place in my heart.
