Dreams of Any Kind – Cold or Warm – Are Good Ones
 

So, they went and turned a perfectly good summertime play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, into a wintry play, A Midwinter Night's Dream. It opened - brrrrrrrrrr - at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, at Drew University, Madison, on December 6th.

(NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey is presenting a holiday production of Ella Enchanted weekends until December 17, 2023 on Saturdays and Sundays. Written by Karen Zacarias with music by Deborah Wicks La Puma, Ella Enchanted is adapted from the book by Gail Carson Levine and introduces us to Ella of Frell, who is given the "gift" of obedience by Lucinda, her misguided Fairy Godmother. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

NJPAC Celebrates the Songs of Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra with All-Star Tribute
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will celebrates the songs of Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra, a pair of close friends and Capitol Records labelmates—who just happened to be two of the 20th century's most essential and influential singers on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 7:30pm. The lineup includes Aloe Blacc, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Paula Cole, Bettye Lavette, Christian McBride, Rachael Price, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and the Christian McBridge Big Band & Strings.

 



New Jersey Symphony Announces Cone Institute Call for Compositions
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony is accepting applications for the tenth annual Edward T. Cone Composition Institute. This fully immersive, tuition-free program gives four emerging composers the opportunity to hear their music rehearsed and performed by the New Jersey Symphony, as well as participate in sessions with industry leaders on topics like getting their works published and performed.

The 2024 NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival to Take Place in February
 

(NEW YORK, NY) -- The NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival (NYCITFF), formerly a program of the New Ohio Theatre, will take place February 15-18, 2024 at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres, located at 502 West 53rd Street. The festival, led by Executive Director and Programmer Marc Weitz, and Producer and Programmer Allyson Morgan, is now in its 8th year.

Hangul, the remarkable Korean writing system created by King Sejong the Great, is a central focus of the CIA CIA Hangul USA Foundation.
