The 2024 NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival to Take Place in February

(NEW YORK, NY) -- The NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival (NYCITFF), formerly a program of the New Ohio Theatre, will take place February 15-18, 2024 at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres, located at 502 West 53rd Street. The festival, led by Executive Director and Programmer Marc Weitz, and Producer and Programmer Allyson Morgan, is now in its 8th year.

NYCITFF presents work from independent theatre artists who are defying labels and branching out into digital media and film. Feature-length films, short films, filmmaker Q&As and panels with industry professionals will be presented. The full schedule will be announced in January 2024.

Producer Allyson Morgan shares, “We’re beyond thrilled to announce that we’re able to return in February at the beautiful Gural Theatre. A.R.T./New York has a long history of supporting theatre artists in New York, and it felt like a natural transition to partner with them on our first iteration of the festival outside of the New Ohio. We can’t wait to unveil our most diverse slate of films yet!”

Marc Weitz, Executive Director, adds, “We were very sad when the New Ohio closed in August. They were a pillar of the downtown theatre scene for 30 years. But we talked with our artists and our audiences, and they told us to keep going. We’re building a community of theatre artists working in film, and we’re giving audiences a place to watch their work. We’re excited to land at A.R.T./New York and continue our mission.”

All-access passes are $50, which provide access to every event at the festival. Individual tickets will also be on sale for $14. Passes and tickets will be available in January on the NYCITFF website at https://www.nycitff.org.

Illuminating theatre artists with film, the NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival, founded by Marc Weitz and co-produced and programmed by Allyson Morgan, presents work from independent theatre artists defying labels and branching out into film, TV and digital media. Founded in 2017 as a program of New Ohio Theatre, the NYCITFF screens narratives, documentaries, shorts, features, dance, experimental, webisodes and everything in between. For their 8th year, following the closing of the beloved New Ohio, they are moving uptown to the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres. They’re excited for their new home and to share work from both returning and new theatre artists from across the globe!

The A.R.T./New York Theatres are a project of the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) which provide state-of-the-art, accessible venues and top-line technical equipment at subsidized rates, so that the city’s small and emerging theatre companies can continue to experiment, grow and produce new works. Founded in 1972, A.R.T./New York assists over 500 member theatres in realizing their rich artistic visions and serving their diverse audiences well. A.R.T./New York accomplishes this through providing progressive services to our members – from shared office and rehearsal spaces to technical assistance programs for emerging theatres. Because of this dedication to serving the needs of the nonprofit theatre community, A.R.T./New York has received numerous honors, including an Obie Award, an Innovative Theatre Award, a New York City Mayor’s Award for Arts & Culture and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre.
