Ocean County Library Lacey Branch December Art Exhibit: "Landscapes & Nature" by Kaylee McGrath

originally published: 11/27/2023

(LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library Lacey Branch presents the imagery of Kaylee McGrath’s "Landscapes & Nature" throughout the month of December. The artworks on display reflect Kaylee's affinity for landscapes and nature. Kaylee achieves modern imaging and traditional styles of portraiture using a full-frame mirrorless camera and mobile photography techniques.

Kaylee became interested in photography while attending Barnegat High School. She simultaneously studied multimedia arts and business technologies at Ocean County Vocational-Technical School, under the New Jersey Board of Education’s Super Senior Program, from 2013 to 2018.

Kaylee’s photography is regarded as calming and therapeutic, while providing an honest look at life and nature.

Patrons and visitors are invited to meet the artist during a reception in the OCL Lacey Branch on Saturday, December 2 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Light refreshments will be served. All ages are welcome.

The “Landscapes and Nature” exhibit is free and open to the public during regular Branch operating hours. No registration is needed to view the exhibit.

"Open

"Open Book(s)" - Adventures on the wild frontier of bookmaking, and meaning-making, in the first floor galleries of Mana Contemporary

Books do not need to be beautiful objects to be cherished. Many indispensable books on my shelf were in poor condition when I brought them home from the shop. The publishers who put out the cheap yellow-page paperbacks that rocked my world and set my course when I was a child didn’t give much consideration to font, printing, or paper stock. All that mattered was readability. Could I open it fast, close it up quick, and chuck it in my bag when I was done? If anybody at the publishing company was making design decisions, those were their objectives. Any impediment to or distraction from the reading experience was unwelcome. They took it for granted that everything that mattered was inside the book.
