Deadline for the New Jersey Theatre Alliance Career Accelerator Program is October 2nd
 

The deadline to apply for the 2024 Career Accelerator Program presented by New Jersey Theatre Alliance ("The Alliance") is October 2, 2023. This 6-month program consists of three part-time, 8-week placements; two with professional theatres and one with New Jersey Theatre Alliance to learn about theatre administration and management in real-world contexts. In addition to learning in the field, fellows will participate in professional development seminars, mentoring meetings, and check-ins with the Theatre Alliance Staff.

Symphony in C to Kick Off 2023-2024 Season at Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts on November 4th
 

(CAMDEN, NJ) -- New Jersey-based professional training orchestra Symphony in C launches its 2023-2024 season with its new Music Director, Noam Aviel, on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Gordon Theater at the Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts in Camden, New Jersey. The concert features Smetana's Overture from The Bartered Bride, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4, and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18 performed by piano prodigy Harmony Zhu. Showtime is 8:00pm.

The Newton Theatre presents Twelve Twenty-Four
 

(NEWTON, NJ) -- Twelve Twenty Four comes to The Newton Theatre on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 3:00pm. The band brings a high energy, full-scale, holiday rock orchestra concert featuring everyone's favorite rock-edge holiday music as well, as their own holiday creations.

 



Violin and piano concert to Benefit Atlantic Highlands Arts Council
 

(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- On Sunday, October 1, 2023, there will be a concert to benefit the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council featuring Joel DeWitt on Violin and Evan Schwartzman on piano. The program will feature the Atlantic Highlands premiere of the "Suite for Violin and Piano" of William Grant Still, the so-called "Dean of African-American composers," along with music of Mozart, Ernest Chausson, and Camille Saint-Saëns. Showtime is 4:00pm.

 



NJPAC to Host Year-Round Celebrations in Honor of the 100th Birthday of Newark's Own Sarah Vaughan
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Known as the anchor cultural institution for the city of Newark and the state of New Jersey, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) announced its year-round celebrations in honor of the centennial of Sarah Vaughan's birth. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on March 27, 1924, Sarah Vaughan became one of the most successful jazz vocalists in the history of American music. The power, range, and flexibility of her voice made her known as "Sassy" or "The Divine One."

You have to be a, "Jack of all trades" and it's hard to make it with one revenue stream," says Progressive Rock musician and violinist Joe Deninzon as he discussed being a diverse musician in today's climate, a new album and a CD/DVD set forthcoming from his band Stratospheerius. "For Joe and I both, this is a career and especially nowadays, things have changed so much where you don't just usually get lucky in one little band. You have to sort of do a million other things and everything spiders out to the next thing and you hope that everything sort of connects at some point in your career," added drummer Jason Gianni as the two of them shed some light on their September 28 show at The Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck, NJ and their September 30 show at Kennett Flash in Kennett Square, PA. as well as the paths which got them to where they are now.

"#Resiliart Angola" Art Exhibit on Display in Newark's City Hall
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The City of Newark hosts the "#Resiliart Angola" Art Exhibit from September 29 until January 12, 2024. The exhibit, curated by Newark artist Andrece Brady, celebrates the culture, art and art makers of Angola, and highlights artwork from previous residencies hosted by The American Schools of Angola in partnership with UNESCO. The works are installed throughout the Basement Level and the Third Floor hallways of City Hall.

Mercer County Community College presents Yonia Fain: Refugee Modernism Exhibit
 

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Mercer County Community College (MCCC) has announced that the Yonia Fain: Refugee Modernism exhibit - a collaboration between The Gallery at MCCC and the Mercer County Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education Center - will be open to the public beginning on October 9.

 



Inaugural "Jersey City Art Week" Premieres This October
 

Hudson County's Jersey City is known for its vibrant arts scene. There are many events celebrating the diversity of local artists throughout the year, however, this year local officials have taken the celebration of visual arts one step further and have created the first ever "Jersey City Art Week," which will run Oct. 12-15 in various neighborhoods throughout the city. This event combines the already existing Art Fair 14C and Jersey City Art and Studio Tour and puts them under one umbrella; one that city officials hope will bring even more visitors in to explore what Jersey City has to offer.
