(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Theater Project is presenting Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, and Marriage! by Ken Davenport & Sarah Saltzberg from August 17-27, 2023 in Maplewood, NJ. With help from her assistant Paco and a few cooperative audience volunteers, Miss Abigail demonstrates flirtation techniques from 1940s and 50s how-to-find-romance handbooks to prove that "love can't be bought -- but it can be taught!" Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

 



Atlantic City Theater Company to Present "The Profession" at Jersey Fringe Festival
 

(HAMMONTON, NJ) -- The Profession is a 3 person cast, absurdist tragic comedy being produced by the Atlantic City Theatre Company at The Eagle Theatre, as part of the Jersey Fringe Festival. Show times are exclusive to Saturday, August 19th (12:00pm, 3:10pm, 6:10pm) and Sunday, August 20th (12:00pm, 3:10pm).

 



Sieminski Theater presents "Bette Davis Ain't for Sissies"
 

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Prepare to be transported back in time to the golden age of Hollywood as the Sieminski Theater presents Bette Davis Ain't for Sissies, a captivating theatrical experience that chronicles the remarkable journey of Hollywood legend Bette Davis. The show is set to take place on September 17 at 2:30pm, featuring a riveting performance by actress and playwright Jessica Sherr.

 



Vivid Stage Offers Three Season Pass Options
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, is offering three pass options that offer savings and flexibility for its new season. This professional company will bring three productions, including several World and New Jersey premieres, to the stage, in addition to two improvisational comedy shows, a holiday variety show, eight play readings, a cabaret and educational programs for teens and adults.  As always, the Vivid Stage Resident Acting Company and their guests will tell stories that reflect our shared experience of being human with heart and humor.

Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites....8/17/23
 

"That's right," laughed a very jovial Tommy Castro, "The record has been out for a while but it's summertime so we're hitting all of the spots. We've been to Europe a couple of times this year and that's where I'm at now, I'm calling you from Romania; we have a show here and then head back to the States for a private event in Minnesota, a festival in New Hampshire and the gig at Somers Point and The Iridium. We are just keeping busy and we'll finally be home in September and I'll get a chance to hang around my house and relax for a few weeks (laughs)."

 



Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival Returns to Salem County
 

A tradition of more than 50 years returns to the Salem County Fairgrounds, located at 735 Harding Highway in Woodstown, this Labor Day Weekend. The Delaware County Bluegrass Festival has been held since 1972, and in South Jersey since the 1990s. This year's 51st annual festival will take place Sept. 1-3 and is sure to bring a jamming good time to all in attendance.  

 



MPAC presents Judy Collins and Madeleine Peyroux
 

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Enjoy a double bill of two of music's most acclaimed vocalists -- folk legend Judy Collins and jazz mainstay Madeleine Peyroux -- at Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 7:30pm. Tickets range from $49-$89.

 



Symphony in C Announces 2023-2024 Season
 

(CAMDEN, NJ) -- New Jersey-based professional training orchestra Symphony in C has announced its 2023-2024 season following the recent appointment of its new Music Director, Noam Aviel. Aviel began her position in July and makes her debut as Music Director conducting Smetana's Overture from The Bartered Bride, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18 (soloist TBA), and Tchaikovsky's Symphony 4 during Symphony in C's season opening concert on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 8:00pm All concerts take place at Gordon Theater at the Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts in Camden.

New Jersey songwriter Sean Tobin has announced a new album, Hands Like Mine, his latest since 2022's Ghost of the Arcade. It comes out November 10th, and the first two singles "Song for the End of the World" and "Old Magnolia" are out now.

5th New Jersey Web Festival to Take Place September 21-24
 

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- New Jersey Web Festival (NJ WebFest) will be held in Montclair at Montclair Film and The Clairidge from September 21-24, 2023. The festival has announced the complete nominations list for its milestone 5th edition. The 2023 festival continues to be a world-leading celebrator of indie web content with over 175 projects programmed. NJ WebFest features Web Series, Fiction Podcasts, Short Films, Music Videos, Actual Play Projects, Standalone Audio Pieces, Pilots, and Trailers.

Finding the Modern Spirit in Tradition: The Sculpture of Liu Shiming at Mason Gross Galleries
 

From time to time, a wise thinker comes along, helping us contend with existential mysteries. Liu Shiming, celebrated as a sculptor in his native China, thinks and speaks like a philosopher. John McEwen of New Jersey Theatre Alliance Among New Board Members at Mid Atlantic Arts
