(BEACHWOOD, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library Beachwood Branch will present "HeartBeats: Drumming for Adults," a fun and empowering interactive program, on Thursday, August 31. The event begins at 11:00am.
The presenter is Steven E. Brown of Drumhead Enterprises, whose “BONK!” program has introduced children to percussion instruments from around the world at Ocean County Library branches and at other New Jersey libraries.
Participants in the one-hour program will share drums and percussive instruments, receive instruction in basic techniques, and have the chance create rhythm patterns and “lead” the group. Attendees are welcome to bring percussion instruments of their own.
Participants will also learn simple volume and speed dynamics, take part in a rhythm memory game, and create an imaginary “rain forest,” using percussion instruments to simulate the sounds of birds, animals and weather.
