(NEWARK, NJ) -- Invest Newark announced that Andrea Mason, an expert in community outreach and city operations, will be Business Operations Officer for Invest Newark. In her role, she works with the CEO to oversee the daily operations of multiple departments to ensure success. She also ensures that residents and the business community are aware of the many programs Invest Newark offers.
Andrea is a Newark native and resident. She worked and took on new responsibilities in the City of Newark’s Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs for 15 years until becoming the South Ward Aide to the Honorable Mayor Ras J. Baraka in 2016. In 2018, Ms. Mason was appointed as the first Senior Manager of the Newark People’s Assembly, a newly created division within the Mayor’s Office. There, her office served as the liaison between the community at-large and the Mayor, Administration, and Department leaders.
Along with the many duties that she performs while working for the community, she is a Leadership Newark Fellow, an active member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Incorporated, a member of her block association and the South District Community Relations Council in Newark, a basketball official (IAABO Board 33), a USA Gymnastics Tumbling Judge, a Commissioner for Newark’s Federally Qualified Health Center, a member of the Newark Commission on Homelessness and consistently attends community events and meetings as invited. In her spare time, Ms. Mason loves to instruct and soul line dance.
