(WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Monmouth University's Center for the Arts presents Paul Mecurio's Permission to Speak on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 8:00pm in the Pollak Theatre. Paul Mecurio is an Emmy & Peabody Award winning comedian for his work on “The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart,” “The Colbert Report” and “The Late Show w/Stephen Colbert.” Tickets range from $30-$40.

Paul works on and makes recurring appearances on “The Late Show” (including his most recent “Late Show” appearance that brought down the house and has everyone talking). Paul created and stars in his hit, unique Broadway show, “Paul Mecurio’s Permission to Speak” which now has a national and internation fall 2023 tour. The show was directed and produced by Frank Oz, legendary director of such films as “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “Bowfinger,” “Stepford Wives,” and “Little Shop of Horrors.”

“Permission to Speak” was met with rave reviews and been nominated for the prestigious “Most Unique Show” Broadway Alliance Award. In this exciting one man comedy show with a twist, starring the audience and Mecurio, Mecurio improvises with audience members by randomly bringing them on stage and talking with them about who they are, their lives, interests, personal experiences and what they honestly think without feeling boxed in by the confines of contrived political correctness or fear of offending. A breath of fresh air, Permission to Speak is first and foremost, funny and entertaining, but also a truly freeing experience.

Tickets range from $30-$40 and are available for purchase online.

The Pollak Theatre is located on the campus of Monmouth University (400 Cedar Avenue) in West Long Branch, New Jersey. This is a recently renovated 700 seat theatre that presents live music, theatre and dance by national touring artists such as Rosanne Cash, Jason Isbell, L.A. Theatreworks, and Ailey II Dance Company. In addition, the Pollak Theatre also screens HD broadcasts of the MET Opera, National Theatre of London, and The Bolshoi Ballet, along with children’s theater and other programming presented by the Center for the Arts.
