Middletown Arts Center Presents "The SpongeBob Musical", produced by The MAC Players
 

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center make a splash this summer with The SpongeBob Musical, a stunning, all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show running over two weekends, July 14–16 and July 21–23. When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. A delight for audiences young and old, The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and a book by Kyle Jarrow.

 



Online International Premiere Screening of "Liberi Tutti!" – A Play Based on Chesterton's "The Surprise"
 

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- The G. K. Chesterton Institute for Faith & Culture at Seton Hall University and the Rimini Meeting are pleased to announce that the Online International Premiere Screening of "Liberi Tutti!" -- directed by Otello Cenci and based on G. K. Chesterton’s "The Surprise" -- will be presented to view online from Tuesday, June 20 to Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

 



WHATCo to Hold Auditions for "Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic"
 

(WEST HUDSON, NJ) -- The West Hudson Arts & Theater Co (WHATCo) will host open auditions for Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. The show will be WHATCo’s first Main Stage production of 2023. Auditions will be held in person Thursday, July 13th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm and Tuesday, July 18th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Call backs (if needed) will be Thursday July 27th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Auditions will be held at the theater, 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. South, Harrison, N.J. (the former Holy Cross School).

 



NJ Rep to Present World Premiere of "A Tailor Near Me" by Michael Tucker
 

(LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- The New Jersey Repertory Company will present the world premiere of Michael Tucker's comedy A Tailor Near Me, directed by James Glossman. Starring Tony Nominee Richard Kind and James Pickens, Jr., this limited run will begin on July 27 in advance of its July 29 opening night and will run through August 27, 2023. In the play, a man goes to a tailor to have his suit pants let out because he's gained some weight since he last wore them. The tailor convinces him that what he really needs is a new suit, which leads to a negotiation, which leads to the making of a bespoke suit, which leads to alterations in both of their lives.

George Street Playhouse Announces 50th Season featuring Three World Premieres
 

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse has announced its 2023-24 productions. This golden anniversary year will mark the 50th season for the award-winning theater company, with performances at The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center in New Brunswick, NJ. The season will include five productions, with three world premieres. Subscriptions are on sale now.

Counting Crows and Dashboard Confessional to Perform Shows In Holmdel and Atlantic City
 

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- After last year's release of the critically acclaimed album All The Truth That I Can Tell, a massive co-headline tour with Jimmy Eat World, and a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dashboard Confessional is now out on their tour alongside world-renowned rock band Counting Crows for the Banshee Season Tour. After years of collaboration, Dashboard Confessional is excited to be joining their long-time friends in Counting Crows for this North American tour. The tour comes to the PNC Bank in Holmdel on July 6th and the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City on July 22, 2023.

 



Discovery Orchestra's Latest Telly Award Winning Television Special Is Available Online Until June 30th

New Jersey Symphony Appoints Diego García as Youth Orchestra Artistic Director

Nils Lofgren releases "Won't Cry No More (For Charlie Watts)"
 

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame E Street Band member, Crazy Horse member and solo artist Nils Lofgren released "Won't Cry No More (For Charlie Watts)," a blistering track that channels the passing of Charlie Watts into a broader reflection on loss and perseverance. The song is the third single from Lofgren's upcoming album Mountains, out on July 21.

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Launches Summer Artist in Residence Program
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) will launch its Summer Artist in Residence Program on Friday, July 7. More than 70 artists applied for the program and three artists were chosen to participate: Krystle Lemonais, Kirk Maynard, and MJ Tyson. The Artist in Residence program will take place from July 7–August 13, when the Art Center’s Main Gallery will be transformed into a creative space for the artists to reflect on their artistic practices, experiment with materials and techniques, and explore new ideas and approaches. Additionally, the three artists selected for the program will engage with the surrounding communities through artist talks and technique demonstrations.
