Axelrod Performing Arts Academy offers Summer Programs at Bell Works

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Axelrod Performing Arts Academy’s (APAA) 2023 Summer Educational Programming which offers dance and musical theater classes and experiences for kids ages 8+ will soon be underway. Classes are held at the Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater (AXCBT) Studio at Bell Works, in Holmdel, New Jersey. 

Created by APAA Director and AXCBT Artistic Director Gabriel Chajnik, the Academy was established to offer year-round programming providing children and adults extensive dance training through a unique performing arts experience. The Academy shares AXCBT’s mission to cultivate an environment rooted in diversity, inspiration, encouragement, and equality.

APAA Summer Programs 

Pre-Professional Summer Dance Intensive: Dates: July 17 - August 4, 2023; Mondays through Fridays from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Location: Monmouth University, Lauren K. Woods Theater & Bell Works. The Pre-Professional Summer Dance Intensive offers kids ages 11+ daily ballet and contemporary classes and weekly Master Classes. The curriculum is designed to immerse students into the world of professional dance and to foster their growth both artistically and technically. AXCBT’s Pre-Professional Dance Intensive features a world-class faculty lineup, bringing in accredited guest artists from Radio City Music Hall, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and more. Tuition: 1 week - $525; 2 weeks - $1000; 3 weeks - $1450. Day Pass - $120

Primary Summer Camp: Dates: July 5-28, 2023. Mondays through Fridays from 9:00am-3:00pm. The Primary Summer Camp is an all-encompassing program designed to teach kids 8 -12 the ins and outs of the performing arts world. Coursework includes dance, choreography, vocal technique, commercial acting, audition prep with workshops introducing the technical aspects of theater. Students will receive professional training from actors, dancers and singers with extensive experience in the business. Showcase on Friday, July 28. Tuition: 1 week - $650; 2 weeks - $1250; 3 weeks - $1800; 4 weeks - $2250. Day Pass - $150;  Half-day Pass - $75. 

Lane Napper Experience: Dates: August 7 - 11. Ages 8-12, 10:00am - 1:00pm; Ages 13+, 2:00pm-5:00pm. Television's Lane Napper (Victorious, FBI, iCarly) will conduct a week-long summer fun TV-Dance Experience at AXCBT Studios at Bell Works! During the week-long experience, Lane will take students through different forms of script and scene study. Students will learn aspects of performing onstage, television, film, and commercial. They will also work on choreography and movement. 

To top off the experience, students (along with our awesome videography crew) will shoot an actual ACTING scene and then break into a DANCE using Bell Works as our location! 

At the end of the week, parents are invited to witness some of the behind-the-scenes filming, as we all experience the energy and excitement together.
