Premiere Stages at Kean University Announces 2023 Premiere Play Festival Finalists (UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has selected its four finalists for the 2023 Premiere Play Festival. Now in its 18th year, the Festival is an annual competition for unproduced scripts that offers developmental opportunities to playwrights with strong affiliations to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware. This year's finalists were selected from 701 submissions.
American Theater Group presents "Right to be Forgotten" (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG), a professional regional theater company in Central Jersey, presents Right to Be Forgotten -- a searing new drama by Sharyn Rothstein in June. The show will run June 8-10 at JCC MetroWest in West Orange, NJ and June 15-18 at the Sieminski Theater in Basking Ridge. It's a powerful look at today's social media landscape, the drama explores how a young man's mistake at 17 haunts him online a decade later.

Make Music Day to Take Place in Englewood on June 21st (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Celebrate the arrival of Summer with free outdoor concerts as Make Music Englewood returns for its third year, joining over 1,000 worldwide locations on international Make Music Day. Make Music Day is held at outdoor locations every June 21 in honor of the Summer Solstice with origins in France as "La Fête de la Musique," and now is held in over 120 countries.
NJ Jazz Society Announces 2023 Scholarship Winners The winners of the New Jersey Jazz Society's 2023 Juried Scholarship Competition are: Trombonist Richard LaRouech, Buffalo, NY, William Paterson University Jazz Studies Program ($1,000 prize for Performance); Trumpeter Banks Sapnar, Haddonfield, NJ, Temple University Boyer College of Music and Dance, Jazz Studies. ($1,000 prize for Composition); Saxophonist Joseph Foglia of Raleigh, NC, William Paterson University Jazz Studies Program ($500 prize for Performance); and Trumpeter Grace Fox of Marlton, NJ, Manhattan School of Music ($500 prize for Composition).
Nils Lofgren Releases "Nothin's Easy (For Amy)" Rock and Roll Hall of Fame E Street Band member, Crazy Horse member and solo artist Nils Lofgren has released a new song "Nothin's Easy (For Amy)" featuring vocals from Neil Young. The song is a loving tribute to his wife Amy Aiello Lofgren, who co-produced his new album Mountains that will be released on July 21. Mountains is now available for pre-order.

2023 Trenton Film Festival to take place June 9-11 (TRENTON, NJ) -- The Trenton Film Society presents the 2023 Trenton Film Festival from June 9-11 at the Mill Hill Playhouse, showcasing films from around the world and from our local area as well. Fifty-one films in eleven separate programs range from local to international settings, features to shorts, fiction films to documentaries, using traditional to experimental techniques.
"Stay Behind" takes on Emotional Meltdowns in Existential Comedy It's Halloween night on a college campus. Marabelle, dressed as a scarecrow in a raincoat, lays down in the college center and refuses to move. She hopes to lie there long enough that she eventually decomposes into the earth. A stranger (Koda) dressed as an angel tells her that she's in his spot.
Bowling 4 Eva plays at the 2023 New Jersey International Film Festival on June 2! Situated in the wake of online chat rooms and JNCO jean culture of the early 2000s, Bowling 4 Eva introduces the audience to protagonist Christina— a depressed teen who passes the time under suicide watch by bowling. The 14-minute dark comedy, created by Aelfie Oudghiri, takes the surreal art of bowling alley animations and integrates it with the equally surreal, lonely world of a misunderstood adolescent.

Arts Ed Newark to Receive $80,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEWARK, NJ) -- Arts Ed Newark has been approved for a $80,000 Grants for Arts Projects award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support Cultivating a Creative Newark Through Collective Impact using a Trauma Informed Healing Centered Lens. This continued project will further deepen six ongoing years of helping to develop a Trauma Informed/Healing Centered City through arts education. Arts Ed Newark's project is among 1,130 projects across the country, totaling more than $31 million, that were selected during this second round of Grants for Arts Projects fiscal year 2023 funding.
